Default Awesome's 3 day rolling road extravaganza!

Hello everyone.

After our successful Rolling Road day with SeatCupra.Net over the weekend we have come up with the idea of trying something that no one has really done before..... A 3 day event open to ANYONE and ANY CAR.

We will hopefully be sorting RR days for the forums as they are on their own soon (and if anyone wants to contact us about organising one please feel free to give us a ring ), but we feel this would be an excellent chance for some inter club challenges or just a chance to meet other clubs and see how they compare.

Any thoughts on the idea please feel free to put your thoughts forward to us. We will be organising running orders and lists soon.

Cheers
Andy

date dependent and commitment allowwing, i'm up for a bit of that, if only to satisfy the crtics of my claimed figures. even if it's almost certainly lower, it'd be good to have another set of figures (1 "real" and 1 to scare the saxo brigade...

I hope to be there 29th or 30th but can't say which yet due to family stuff, hope to see someone there.
Even if I can't get the car on I'll pop along and watch the frantic timing adjustments, NoS squirting, Octane adding petrol heads having a laugh.

The fun starts in a little under two and a half hours.

AS far as I can tell, we've got:
1.Gwilo
2.Faboka_vRS?
3.Daver

then I know there are some from other forums coming along (a couple of supercharged V6 Passats from Passatworld/Club B5)

anyone else?

See you there (if you can get there before I leave....should be around for at least an hour, so might leave around 11:30, 12ish to grab some lunch with my mate who I'm dragging along. Might see if I can persuade him to follow me down rather than hitch a ride - I want to see his 'Rado...

Just got back from the RR day.......
Was really good to put a face to some names over on Passatworld
I'll post my dyno plots when i "borrow" a scanner later but the figures are:
173@ the clutch, 163@ wheels - which supports Jabba's previous figures as being 10% optimistic - though I believe they've just had a new RR put in........

torque was 306 lb/ft. not that far off Jabba's plot of 316lb/ft.

Impressed with Dan's B5 v6 4motion supercharged - very smooth, almost a stealth sort of look to it.
As for the Passat estate effort (a B5.5, but with same v6, same 4motion, same supercharger) (Craig?) - OMG.
Nothing subtle about a quad-pipe exhaust, but the noise it made....
And to just keep accelerating like it did....229bhp and still going........ I want one! The noise alone at full chat will keep me amused for weeks.......

One chap brought down as Audi S4, along with the wife and two children. Wouldn't have thought it a typical "family fun day".....Lol.
Bit smug really, as he had the highest powered vehicle there.......and then.....3rd run......."pop" and lot of dirty smoke.....
He left pretty quickly after it went 'pop'........

I believe Awesome tend to video all the runs and then post them, as well as the graphs, on the site, so maybe worth having a look later today or next week to check them out.

it is indeed.
I was initially quite taken with the figures from Jabba (197bhp, 316lb'ft), but realise now that the inertia based RR is optimistic. So losing the 10% from that actually puts it in the right field according to Awesome's RR.
The torque is what does it though - just pulls so much - could see the engine block when they stomped on the Loud Pedal just push itself right back on the mountings and not move till they lifeted off........ . ONloy car i saw this morning touching it on torque was the S4 (iirc just nudged 270lb/ft when it went pop) - the V6 Supercharged Passats, the Evo 7 where posting in the 200 range.

But the V6 estate...... took a mate with me and he just said it was really surreal hearing the sound of a V6, coupled with the noise of a supercharger, with the deep burble/rasp of the exhaust coming from an estate car
