Thanks to everyone for all the nice comments.

As Bill says I've got an S8 for now, I have a few plans for it, mostly aesthetic although I'm not sure if I'll be able to resist an exhaust just so I can hear the V8 a bit better.

my mate a 4.2quattro A8(not the S8) and the mpg was amazingly bad but then he does have a heavy foot.

mpg seems very similar to the Octavia. I averaged 24mpg on the way back from Bill's on Sunday.

Milltek do a cat back for £800 but it looks much the same as standard, I fancy a quad outlet one which will probably be a bit cheaper too from an exhaust fabricator. Something like the one in the attached photo.

Really great looking Octy Estate.Only one thing spoils it - the VW badge on the steering wheel!!!!

If you check the descrpition, that's not there anymore, it was replaced a long time ago with a Skoda badged airbag from a vRS.
