Default Silver 05 Fabia vRS - highly modified. Reduced Price.

This will only appeal to a very limited number of prospective buyers i realise - but here goes.

For sale is my 2005 Fabia vRS (facelift) in diamond silver metallic.

Still reading?

Good things:-

Engine recently replaced with a Golf 150 pd unit that had covered 35k.
New Stage 2 Hybrid turbo Dynamics Turbo
New Sachs 4 paddle sintered clutch and recent new DMF
Egr bypass pipe
Forge "one off" large FMIC
Bumper opened and meshed at front.
Recent Tarox 312mm G88 disks, and Tarox Strada pads. (all just nicely bedded in)
17" OZ Superturismo alloy wheels shod with Toyo T1'Rs - all good tread.
Eibach -25 mm springs
Eibach Pro Shocks - done 20k but feel like new.
Custom remap by Awesome Gti - Bhp was 218 and torque was 349 ft lbs before custom FMIC was fitted. It feels like more now, but it certainly has at least those figures.
3 bar boost guage
Fire extinguisher
New style vRS badges
Allards "race" camshaft
Road Pilot mini (hard wired)
G Tech meter (hard wired)
Sparco Circuit Pro lightwieght fixed bucket seats on alloy subframes.
Sparco 3pt harnesses.

car has covered 50k, full service history, all work fully documented, with RR graphs along the way. This car has literally had NO expense spared and has been mapped to be safe, usable, and reliable.

Bad points:-

Bodywork - most is in pristine condition except the bonnet and bumper. Bonnet has 4 holes drilled into it for a lamp pod (see lamp pod for sale thread) Front bumper is quite heavily stone chipped.

Fuel consumption in town/traffic hits about 25mpg - but does rise to 37 on a run, or less congested driving.

The interior has been totally stripped. It does however come with leather rear seats (3 seat belt ones), and all the seat belts should the buyer wish to refit them.

There are no carpets, plastic trim panels, sound proofing etc.

The WH05 VRS number plate IS included!!

The Pioneer Avic X1 R head unit is included (ipod interface and analogue TV as well as latest satnav dvd) in the price below.

This is an honest ad, and the car has been around a bit, although I have owned it from new and it has had everything replaced/upgraded/repaired professionally to the highest possible standard.

Car comes with 12 months mot, 6 months tax, and a file full of history and documentation.

Price - £7200 ono. Now to include WH05 VRS plate and Pioneer Avic X1R

P.S - I love this car, and seriously do not want to sell it given the time, work, and £££ that has gone into it, but sadly its either a sale or storage.

I'd appreciate communication from potential purchasers only, and a spam free thread Thanks.

Your ad is erroneous - the belts are 4 point ones.

So that's a free (before I report you to the ASA and trading standards )

218bhp!! Wow, impressive.

On another note where is the harness mounted for the driver? Please tell me it's not the top seatbelt bolt, as surely this is way out of the operating guidelines for the harness!

Reading your spec 218bhp is pretty conservative, with the right map and maybe an SMF you should easy see the sunny side of 250bhp??

SMF is simply for comfort..... and yes it is mapped for safe reliable power. It can be mapped to the limit of the turbo, 260 bhp, and 400+ ft lbs. It will more than likely break though IMHO, thus I have not had it mapped again.

I agree there mate, 218bhp is more than enough power to have fun.

The thing with lower bhp the ecu will request less boost so the turbo wont surge and will spool much faster (charactistics of VNT).

In practice my 229bhp was actually faster than the 248bhp map on the road.

Makes the car much more punchy and loads of fun on the twistys, you just aim and press go

Please delete this if off topic, I just want to give my opinion of why your car is better/faster running less power to potencial buyers.

If its anything like my hybrid fabia is/was then this is an absolute steal for someone. Hours of fun to be had which this machine.

If i wasnt going to dubai id have the car off you just for spares for mine

John

I have only sat in this car and talked to the owner about it's performance and mods (in great depth)... what I will say is I first saw this car when it was purchased back in 2005 and pretty much bog standard...

Since then no expense has been spared in getting it to the performance standards it now has.. If I had the spare cash and the Garage space I would snap up this performance bargain..

If your circumstances are right don't sit there "ummming and arrrhhhing" about this car just go for it, you won't be disapointed

I know you were after a spam free thread; but f*ck me, if you're in a position to store the car do it! you bloody love that car and £6500 is all but giving it away and wouldn't cover it's...sentimental...value let alone what you've spent to get it built

Its a question of for how long.... Ideally I would store it, but the cost would be massive. I plan not to be coming back to the UK, only to visit.

Well, all I can say is that Dave took me for a spin a while ago
and it goes like sh!t off a shovel. Brilliant traction and good
brakes too

Just store it Dave, you know you will back

Well, I drove it last night, so, with Dave's permission, I'll do a review. I should point out that this is the first time I've driven a diesel Fabia.

Contact points
The seats are not suitable for the fuller figured gentleman, I also found that the wings on the seats are too low for me (I'm 6'4"). They do hold you very snugly once you get in to them. The drivers seat is offset to the right and you seem to sit higher than on standard seats. The offset doesn't prevent heel and toe changes. The shift is quite nice and positive. It is is noisy as most of the sound deadening has been removed.

driving

Probably the important bit

Starting isn't like a standard one and it takes a bit longer to start. Once started it runs niceley. Clutch has good bite. Moving off is a doddle and the car is very tractable and quite docile, so would be fine for pottering about. The exhaust isn't boomy, unlike some I have driven so you could live with that. Doesn't drone at a high speed cruise.

Come on, get on with it, how does it go....

Performance

It pulls very strongly once beyond about 2500. There is a bit of lag when planting it, more so than with a standard one. Once in its stride it pulls cleanly all the way to the limiter - seems like it wants to pull beyond that too. It is very much like a petrol car in its delivery, albeit with a shorter rev range. Fuel economy? Not relevant - Dave stated what he gets in his first post. Sound nice and raspy when on boost, there is a noise through the exhaust that sounds like wastegate noise - very appealling.

handling

Pretty good, although not set up to my tastes, it'd suit Paul's style more than mine. Very pointy front end, rear seems pretty loose which gives good turn in and adjustability. It isn't crashy and roll is pretty well contained. Traction is good, although there is some torque steer.

Brakes

Brakes are well modulated, better than standard. They stop the car well and resisted fade after a few harder stops. Aren't as abrupt or squeally as 3000s and don't bite quite as well as the 2500s I'm used to. I'd need to give it a bit more of a drive to see how long it took until they wilted.

Verdict

A good little motor and well modified. Sure, there are some things I'd change, but that is down to my personal preference more than anything else and is mainly down to the seats (and their position) and the way the handling is set up. Would I buy it? If I had the money and the requirement - definitely yes.

Oh and it's a free for ya Dave....

Superb car Dave
Shame you have to sell it , but a good buy for anyone looking for a car that can be a dily driver (plenty of room for the Tesco shopping there ) and can have fun in it too
Good luck my dear
