| Coolant Fan 1 Short Vag-Com is great. It's saves me money while costing me money!! Ok, I've posted this on a few VW specific locations, but they're all too ing themselves into a froth over the Golf GTI or the new Passat B6 to answer an everday techy q. AS the Furby VRS uses the same engine, this seemed the best place to get a logical and helpful answer.Vag-Com is piking up an intermitten short on Coolant Fan 1. Any ideas of: Symptoms? - the car isn't overheating or heating up too quickly. There is an intermittent "tick tick tick tick tick" noise coming from somewhere over the passenger side of the dash - could there be a fuse or relay behind there responsible for that or need replacing? Secondly, how much? and is it a garage job or could I easily do it myself (a la MAF)? Over to you guys (and our resident Master Tech, Ross....... ) |

| Are both cooling fans working? One should cut in with vehicle up to temp, the other should come on with the a/c. Does the fault clear? |

| What might help to narrow it down? The vehicle seems quite happy, even with relatively high speed runs (ie, Colne to Rochdale, 20-30mins, at speed limits or thereabouts. I just wondered if this occassional ticking from the glovebox area of the dash was associated. I have observed the climate control unit display switching off and then re-starting on at least four occassions. But, having only just got round to plugging VAG-COM into the Pastie, no idea when the fault code was logged. Might this help: Quote:
