| Driver Convenience / window lower with key Hello all! I've read a bit about the so called "driver convenience" thingy that lowers the windows when the key is held in the unlock position and raises them in the locked position being used to gain entry to an octy (and other cars), and some people mentioning that the dealer can disable this feature. As I now have access to vag-com can anyone tell me if this can be done as it's not a feature I really need (be more flipping usefull on the remote which it appears can't be done ) and I don't like the idea of some oik getting into my pride and joy by bodging around with the drivers door lock and lowering the windows.I realise that I could go for the de-locking idea mentioned on other threads but don't like the idea of getting stranded in the event of key fob battery failure. Also I've been searching for the remote window closure etc (seems possible with 3rd party software but anyone have any experience of these?) and this key feature but cannot find any helpful info (Maybe my search terms aren't right!).All help appreciated muchly .Regards, Matt |

| Re: Driver Convenience / window lower with key I thought they cured that problem so you have to have the proper key to activate it? Could be wrong of course. You can do it from the keyfob if you fit a third-party device like an Alientech window controller. I have one and it's great. Press unlock three times, all windows wind down. Press unlock-lock, all windows wind up ![]()

| Re: Driver Convenience / window lower with key If you want to disable it you need to physically snip some wires, vag-com can't help on this one.

| Re: Driver Convenience / window lower with key And if they dig hard enough with a screw driver the door will unlock anyhow, window up or down. Still got to get around the immobilizer though. |

| Re: Driver Convenience / window lower with key Surely if they want to nick items from inside the car they'll just smash the window anyway rather than try and fool the car into winding it down?

| Re: Driver Convenience / window lower with key professional car thiefs that steal will have a little doo-dah gadget that plugs into the diagnostics port to defeat the immobilizer then they just stick a screw driver into the ignition switch and away they go!!! |

.Anyone breaking into my house WILL spend the rest of their days in a wheelchair, that's a promise! Anyway, that appears to answer the question, so it can't be done with vag-com then .Oh well, it's just a hypothetical question anyway, I'm not too worried about it. Just trying to get the most out of the vag-com and options available to the car etc. Anyone know if there's a more exhaustive list of what can be enabled/disabled (other than the sticky codes in here which are fairly brief) - I've searched but found nothing. I never suggested that any security measures I take will stop someone who's REALLY determined in taking the car or breaking in from doing so. Anyway, seems to be drifting further off topic here.......................... | |
