Fabia 1 Key Coding

Hi All,

Having issues with VAG-COM accessing the Central Convenience controller (46) to code a new remote. In "Adaptation", channel 01 indicates that the stored number of remotes was 1. This is despite there being two keys from new. When we try to increase the value from 1 to 2 the "Test" button dissappears i.e we can't add a remote.

Strangely, the key coding went fine as we have the 4-digit code for the car.

Do Skoda have a different way of coding remotes?

Yours, Perplexed!

Re: Fabia 1 Key Coding

Post the complete part number from your Convenience Module please. VAG-COM shows it as "VAG Number" when you access the module.

Go into channel 00 first and erase all the remotes, then into channel 01 and adapt the number of remotes that you require.

Yup, you need to clear them before you can program more

Re: Fabia 1 Key Coding

Do you think when I (eventually ) attempt to plug in my vRS convenience module into my car I will also need to go through the process of wiping off keys and reprogramming them? Done it once quite a while ago with help of Monsieur Lummox. August 2005 IIRC.

Re: Fabia 1 Key Coding

I would have thought so, as it would have originally been adapted for different key remotes. It's very simple to do.

Re: Fabia 1 Key Coding

Thanks all for your advice. Indeed, a clear-out of channel 00, followed by following coding procedure in channel 01 did the trick in less than a minute! Thanks, Uwe for providing such a versatile and user-friendly tool.

Regarding convenience module, yes as above.

Regards,

Richard

Re: Fabia 1 Key Coding

And I assume once the vRS ECU is in, there's no other serious issues to worry about, besides recoding my ignition key/s?

I have to admit, I am very surprised my "vRS" current state of running actually worked fine with the current "pd100" convenience module in my car. Keys coded OK when I did it, so doubt it is an issue.

Thank f*** I have the 4 digit code for my car though. Else I'd be having a right 'mare.
