Fabia vRS manuals?

Despite a long search, I haven't turned up anything like a Fabia Workshop Manual in English. (Haynes have no plans to produce one, they say, but there seems to be a Dutch one). Have I been looking in the wrong places?

Is there such a thing which mere customers can get hold of?
What's the chances of getting hold of the pukka set of manuals from Skoda?
And which erWin (VW/Audi) manuals might apply to a Fabia vRS?

My motivation is that I have just built a Vag-Com interface and although it works, I would want to invest in the real thing to take it's use further than a simple look-see. But the tool is only a toy without supporting documentation.

Is our only choice to write our own manual by sticking together all the threads on Briskoda?

Any advice/pointers/opinions welcome.

In short, no

In long, you may be able to get the workshop manuals from Skoda, but they ain't gonna be cheap and a search on your favourite peer-2-peer client may turn something up?

I believe other VAG cars which do have Haynes manuals have similar parts, but I don't know which bits match up from which cars.....

The latest suitable Haynes VW manual seems to be that for the Golf and Bora petrol and diesel Apr 98 - 00 (R to X). It doesn't cover 4Motion (4X4) nor the 1.9PD engine, nor will it be up to date for the current DBW 1.8T engine.

So not much use for the Furby vRS then

The official manual for each model consists of a sizeable number of loose leaf folders. It would probably be a very major task to scan each page and convert to pdf - as the Nissan SX Owners Club have done with 800+ page manuals for the 200SX S13 and S14. And copyright would be a problem.

As Denis already stated, these manuals are all covered by a very extensive copyright statement. Duplication on Briskoda will not be allowed I'm affraid. Whatever you exchange by PM's/email is another matter...

And most of it is now in VAS 5051 in Guided Functions and Guided Fault Finding, manuals are history.

A Fabia vRS manual at last!

I finally turned up a Haynes-style manual which covers the Fabia vRS.

The bad news is, it's in German.

Nevertheless, it's up-to-date (2004), fairly cheap (about £16) and the exploded drawings show how things come apart and fit together again. Saves damaging panels because you've left a screw in place! I think it's worth it just for the drawings, and a bit of Babelfishing usually produces something sensible from the text. For instance, it seems there is such a thing as a Fabia on Variable Servicing intervals - in Germany.

I'll write a review when I've had a better look at it. It's number 130 in the "So Wird's gemacht" series, by H.R.Etzold. (Number 120 is the Octavia).

I got mine from Amazon Germany, by typing the ISBN ( 3768815528 ) into the search box. The site works just like the UK one,so ordering isn't a problem, and it took 6 days to arrive.
Hope this helps,
Bryand

spose you've already checked if there is to be an english version printed by the same(or a sister) publishing company - how long do haynes normally take to bring out their manuals of a new model?

Haynes say they have no plans to produce a Fabia manual -" not enough sales of the car" (!?).
As far as I know, the German publisher doesn't have a UK partner, and they have no English titles in their lists.

Skoda Fabia manual

Hi

It is probably worth a try.

At least we get the diagrams and a bit of help with translation on free sites.

I speak German fairly well but don't have much technical knowledge; would be happy to help out if there's anything needing some translation...
