| For the first time since I bought my Octavia... ... I heard it's alarm today! ![]() ![]() ![]() After much investigation, two visits to the dealer and lots of help from people on here, I found out that the convenience unit was the route of a non working alarm on my car. I picked up a replacement from a scrap yard for £20 from a golf GT Tdi and planned to fit it on tuesday when my VAG-COM cable should be delivered. I decided to stick it in today out of boredom (not really expecting it to do much) and it works! I swapped the modules over and all seemed to be ok, interior light still works, windows all work and locking works (from the key). So I programmed the buttons on the first key, as per the instructions on Stu's website (Octavia-vrs.com) and it beeped (which it's never done before). So I popped the bonnet and held the microswitch on the catch down, then I locked the car and waited 10-20 seconds before releasing the switch... and the alarm went off ![]() I know, I know... little things please little minds ![]() Everything is as it was except I now have to press the lock button twice if I want to unlock anything other than just the drivers door (which unlocks with one press). I know this is just a setting in vag com so I'm not too bothered. I have a feeling I may nolonger have anti hijack locking, but again I can sort that when vag com lands on tuesday. Will I be ok to just adjust settings as I desire? Or am I better to plug the old unit back in so I can get the coding off and transfer it to the new one? And what else should I check to make sure it's working? Thanks ![]() |

| Re: For the first time since I bought my Octavia... Could the wiring issues with your old unit have been caused by a Turbo Timer or something Phil??

| Re: For the first time since I bought my Octavia... That's a good idea, Stu! I've been at a loss trying to think of what on earth could have been connected... It wouldn't surprise me if it was a turbo timer. |

| Re: For the first time since I bought my Octavia... The fact that it was perhaps connected to the alarm made me think TT.

| Re: For the first time since I bought my Octavia... Yep, it would certainly make sense. The only other thing I can think of is an alarm pager or some sort of additional sensor. After having a fiddle with VAG-COM yesterday, and a replacement wire to the interior sensor, I now have it working as it should ![]() The only thing which I'm struggling with now is: With the old convenience unit, it would lock the doors automatically after a couple of minutes if I unlocked it but didn't open a door (so if I was to knock the key in my pocket and unlock it inadvertently - it would relock again). It doesn't do this now, and I can't find a setting for it in VAG-COM. For now I've turned on the alarm beep so if I was to unlock it by accident, at least I would know about it. ![]() |

| Re: For the first time since I bought my Octavia... Hmmm....scratch that. Seems to be locking itself again now. Perhaps it came on with the anti hijack? Oh well. I must stop playing with VAG-COM before I break something! |
