Help coding new fabia vrs dashpod

Received a new maxidot dash pod from VRStu.

I'm having problems getting the dash to work properly.

Stu has been extremely helpful so far and has spent a lot of time trying to get it working but so far we are having no luck.

The maxidot portion of the dash works fine.

The problems I am currently having are, speedo does not work at all, revs are ~300 behind what they should be, fuel guage is above what it should be and moves wildy to empty when I turn right.

Miles, mpg etc don't work but I am atm assuming this is something to do with the fact speedo etc don't work.

New dash pod has the same soft code and adaptation values as the old one.

I am receiving one error about intermittent one wire can bus operation but this doesn't always show up.

I have followed the ross-tech guides exactly and the car will drive with the dash in, just not working properly.

Not even sure if this is the correct section for this but if anybody has any ideas i'd be grateful for the help.

I'm interested it getting hold of a maxi dot display for my Fabia VRS too. Have you got the problem fixed yet?

So aswell as installing the maxidot, you have to reprogram and reconnect some elements of the new face plate am I right??

Re: Help coding new fabia vrs dashpod

I's pretty much a plug in job save for coding the immobilisor and service intervals however we don't seem to be able to get the Speedo to work, everything else seems ok.

I have seen a Fabia Classic in CZ with one fitted and working but as yet we've drawn a blank on the vRS over here.

Yip we have as yet had no luck.

If we can't find out soonish and you fancy having a go at one you can have mine.

Sure its just some coding somewhere though as everything works fine when trying the output tests on vagcom so the signal can definitely be sent to it.

As much as I'd like to have a go at one...I probably have the most limited technical knowledge with cars...I just drive them....but I'm willing to learn so thats why I'm at this forum alot these days lol.

Do you think the issue could be with a faulty fascia product?

Re: Help coding new fabia vrs dashpod

Stu has just been speaking to me about this, he has managed to find an article about the speed issue.

The dash pods come from factory set to fit cars without ABS.

Cars without ABS get speed signal from the gearbox, the vrs gets it from the ABS sensors.

There is a procedure using VAS to correct this but i'm not sure if it is even possible on vagcom.

Guided Fault Finding ↵
• Function / Component Selection ↵
• Select function or component ↵
• Body ↵
• Electrical equipments ↵
• Dash panel insert ↵
• Electrical components ↵G-21 – Speedometer

Is what I have to do.

Anyone know if the equivalent can be done on vagcom?

Takes about 10 minutes on an Octy II when you have the right equipment.

And by the right equipment, i guess you mean VAG-COM???

I just got my new '08 2,0 TDI Elegance Combi yesterday, and today my (brand new) RS TDI Maxidot dash insert arrived from Chech Republic.

Does anybody know the steps nessecary to do the swap? I have access to VAG-COM, but the guy who has it has never tried a dash insert swap - except on a Golf IV.

Greetings from Denmark

Re: Help coding new fabia vrs dashpod

That was followed to a T, the instructions do not work.

Guided Fault Finding ↵
• Function / Component Selection ↵
• Select function or component ↵
• Body ↵
• Electrical equipments ↵
• Dash panel insert ↵
• Electrical components ↵G-21 – Speedometer

They specific steps have to be done, unless there is another way to perform the same function?

Does it make any difference that the cluster is new?

Re: Help coding new fabia vrs dashpod

I'll get mine properly sorted one of these days, it's on my 'to do' list - promise!

And I'll report back

Most stuff is sorted on mine, but need fuel gauge calibrated and the speedo sorted. Both minor, unnecessary functions of the pod, I'm sure you'll agree
