| Does anyone know what's going on with my vag-com tool? On testing it says that CAN is OK but K1 and K2 are not. Ross-Tech suggest that it happens if you have aftermarket radio but mine is OEM and came with the car from the factory. It's Audience radio that comes with spec of the car I have. So, nobody has ever messed up with radio and I'm the first owner of the car. Car is Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDi, 2006 model. My interface is Micro-CAN. Is it that Micro-CAN gives that error by default? Anyway, I can still do a good work with VagCom but was curious about the error. Thanks

| A MicroCAN interface has no hardware to support the K-Lines. It is a CAN only interface. Therefore, VCDS will report the K-Lines as "Not Okay". There is nothing wrong with your interface. Last edited by bearthebruce; 06-07-2008 at 14:06. |

| Oh thanks, glad to hear that. By the way, what are K1 and K2 for? What do they give us access to?

| K1 and K2 were the standard diagnostic communications lines for model years from 1990 until the US market forced the change to the CAN communications scheme which began with the MKV based Jetta and so on. Newer cars do not have the K Lines as they do all diagnostic communication via the CAN system. For enthusiasts, we developed a CAN only interface to keep the cost down. The MicroCAN interface is that product. VCDS looks for all communications media so that it can access all systems. When it performs the test, it gives all status even if the interface does not support connection to the communications system. For instance, if you had a KEY series interface and you connect it to a CAN based car, then it would state "CAN not okay" because the interface has no CAN hardware in it. |
