lambda sensor help required!

Hello,
I need a lambda sensor, and I need to know whether I have 2,3 or 4 wires. Its a Fabia 1.4 16V on a 2001 51 plate. Its all too confusing for me!
Does anyone know this?
Thanks in advance!

Re: lambda sensor help required!

Great stuff!
You are much more knowledgeable than I (can you come and fit it now?)
Bit fed up, as was just going to put it up for sale, and then the dreaded light comes on...I presume there is only one of these sensors?

Oh and dont laugh, but can you give me blow by blow account of where it is? Speak as if you were explaining this to somebody from outer space please ....

Re: lambda sensor help required!

There are two probes one in front and one behind the catalyst and they are different to each other, though both have 4 wires.

Re: lambda sensor help required!

Usually from having the fault codes read, what makes you suspect that a Lambda probe is faulty?

Re: lambda sensor help required!

THanks for this help!
I had the fault read at the skoda garage, and they told me it was this sensor. The printout they gave me is unfortunately at work in my drawer, and I cant get it till a week Monday when school re-opens.
I think it was 17604

That looks to me like the sensor in front of the catalyst behind the exhaust manifold. I think that the part number is 036906262G for engine codes AUA, AUB, BBZ and BBY, you will find the engine code on the data sticker in the service book or on the boot floor. There was a change in part number so confirm it with your dealer. I would hope that someone more knowledgeable than me will be along later to verify what I am saying.

Re: lambda sensor help required!

Pretty sure the first lambda probe on the 1.4 16V is a broadband lambda probe and thus a five wire probe.

Re: lambda sensor help required!

Dont need to remove it to see how many wires are on it.

Something wrong with buying one from Skoda?
