resetting extended service light question ?

Do i need vag-com to reset the extended service light on my brothers golf and if so hows it done. Or can i do it with the 2 buttons on the dash like it says on autodata. I play with the software on my own vrs fabia but im a bit wary of plugging it into a car i dont own. Sorry to sound a bit thick im still new to it?

Re: resetting extended service light question ?

Depends how old the Golf is. If it's MK5 then VAG COM has a one touch SRi. If not then to do it properly you need to set the channels up in the right order.

There is info on the Ross Tech site and the software also has a helper.

Does the one touch SRi function not work properly on the Mk4 then, Stu? I used it on my Octavia and it seems to be ok?

Re: resetting extended service light question ?

I think Sebastian said that it wasn't fully implemented yet in Non CAN cars.

If it worked in the Octy then I would imagine the Golf 4 to be very similar.

Re: resetting extended service light question ?

The non-automated reset through the adaptation channels always works with VAG-COM while the automated reset which we introduced in one of the most recent versions of VAG-COM does not yet cover all models. FWIW, the current version with the current data version should fully support 1J (Golf 4), 1U (Octavia I), 1K (Golf 5) and 1Z (Octavia II) in terms of the automated reset.

Re: resetting extended service light question ?

And of course resetting the light by the dash buttons resets to fixed interval.
