1.4 16v MAF

About to clean my throttle body, and thought I'd just check where the MAF was on the 1.4 16v so that I didn't do anything stupid to it.... however, I can't find it! I've also found a thread on a VW forum which suggests that it doesn't have one.

Is this true? And if so how does the engine compensate for different air temperatures? Exhaust gas analysis?

Thanks,
Rob

Re: 1.4 16v MAF

the MAF is needed on a 'normal' car (one with a cable throttle) as an indication to the ECU of throttle postion. As the fab is fly by wire, this function is achieved more accurately within the throttle body

Re: 1.4 16v MAF

the 1.4 16v doesn't have a MAF, it has a map sensor on the left hand end of the intake manifold...

try googling 'speed density injection'
