1.9 PD Tdi 130

I was reading through all the literature that Skoda provided on the new Octy when sending me the insurance form etc for my 24 hr test drive. As you know the 2 diesel options for the new Octy are 1.9 PD 105 and 2.0 PD 140.

It seems to me that Skoda are starting to push the 2.0 unit (also from what I see VW). So given that the 1.9 130 has been dropped from the Octy range, I would not be overly surprised to see the 130 1.9 being discontinued in the Fabia as well.

So I wonder if we will see a 140 BHP Furby vRS for 2006?

IIRC the new PD lumps are now 16v and it's to do with emissions.

Yes although I see that the 1.9 PD 105 when coupled to a DSG auto gear box is apparantly Euro IV compliant? according to the Octy brochure.

No, I did book it for today, then my wife suggested a Friday would be better as she finishes work early and we could go for a run in it, so it is now booked for the 26th. Also having a winter check done on the vRS when I have the Octy2

I thought the 105bhp PD lump was a 16v unit and the PD100 was an old 8 valve unit ?

Furby RS probably wont get the 2.0 TDI until the all new model comes out I should think. Maybe they will put the 2.0 FSI Turbo in it instead.

I'm going to wait and see what happens on the octy vrs front before I decide what to get next. Won't be another Furby though.

AFAIK the 1.9PD 105 is 8V and still only Euro3 unless it's coupled to the DSG box.

Cheers

Well I don't have a Furby brochure but the Octy 1.9 PD 105 is 8v according to the Octy brochure.

Ah OK... So why the hell does a DSG box make it compliant, after all it's only a gearbox ?

There's not really any performance benefit to be had from the 2.0 140 engine. The 130PD's are putting out 140bhp anyway. The new diesel is cleaner, but it's no more powerful or efficient.

How about a diesel Oct VRS .

the only difference between the 1.9 8v and the 2.0 16v (engine wise) is the cylinder head. The Dsg gearbox on the 1.9 105bhp unit may give it more efficient use, lowering the co2 and giving it euro4. All cars sold after Jan 1 2006 will have to be euro4, which means more or less the entire range of engines in the Fabia will have to be updated (the 1.2 FSi engines are already compatible)
