1.9 TDi valves

Hey all

Does the 1.9 tdi have self-adjusting valves/tappets?

Also, the service book states to change timing belt at 60K miles...mine as done 44K miles...I thought i've read on here to do it at 60K OR 4 years...what do reckon?

Yes it has hydraulic tappets.

60k or four years is spot on for the timing belt.

Cheers Lummox. For the timing belt, is the 4 years thing a Skoda recommendation or an owners experience recommendation?

VAG recomendation, but i'd back that 100% having seen some belts at that time.

Can some body point me at where this is written as the service book only shows 60,000 miles and no mention of 4 years

I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in the service book before the bit where the intervals / stamps are put in. Might be wrong. Either way, it's an accepted, proven recommendation by the manufacturer (and our resident techie above ) so it's something not to be taken lightly.

Re: 1.9 TDi valves

The interval was changed within the last year or so to 60,000 miles / 4 years, so it probably won't tally up with what is in your service book anyway unless you have a fairly recent model.
