My Father in Law has an '05 plate Fabia 1200 Classic he bought for his retirement.
It has recently developed a misfire which is much worse when it's warm.
His local garage came up with the fault code misfire Cylinder1, they changed the coil, tried the plugs etc but the miss is still there.
If he turns it off and restarts it the misfire goes for a while.
The engine will idle on 3 ok but after a minute or so the EML starts flashing, it does this for 15 - 20 seconds then cyl 1 cuts out. The EML is then on all the time.
If you raise the revs when the light is flashing you can halt the misfire occurring.
We've had it on the scanner but the fault code isn't much help.
Anybody had any problems with the Engine Control Units going down at all ? , it seems that would fit the bill.

I would think its a sticking valve myself based on my experiance of this engine. Easiest method of tracing the fault is to swap the coil pack from one to three and the injector from one to two and see if the missfire moves. I'd do a cylinder leakage test and compression test also.

The misfire is definitely on cyl 1 and won't move.
If you know valves stick Lummox we'll try that then, I know they do on Mercs so it sounds like a plan.
Just feels electrical somehow
