| Briskodian | 12V Dash Supply Anybody tell me the easiest way to get a pre/post-ignition 12v power supply to near the fascia air vents where I am mounting a ProClip swivel mount for my imminent Dell Axim X50v PocketPC? I've no problem tackling technical/tricky projects - just didn't want to learn the hard way if someone else has already done it. Thanks a bunch |

| Best bet is to tap into the ISO connector on the back of the stereo, iirc pin 7 in the black conector is perm live, pin 4 is the ignition one (goes off when keys taken out). But a test light will clarify this. These are often the two that need swapping when fitting some aftermarket headunits. |

| Briskodian | There are 2 connectors at the back of the stereo, one is for power and one is for the speakers. The connector with all the power in it is BLACK As for the wires: +12v is BROWN and RED Earth is BROWN This is the advice i was given and it worked perfectly, this is a live feed when the key is in only. the ignition does not need to be on. |

| What sort of powered mount are you using?I use a brodit pro clip for my x50v, but it's not powered.Brodit told me they were'nt planning a powered one.The only one Ive seen so far is a Seido one with a bulky speaker on it!Would be interested to know where you got it?

I bought a Brodit clip along the way as well, but snapped-off the bottom lug while stretching it open across the air-vent/fascia - duh! What sofware are you running? Last edited by Tango49; 25-03-2005 at 20:22. | |

| Bought the unit primarily for navigation, using tom tom 3 with a combined 256k memory/gps reciever card. The set up works great and i use it most days for my work.Bought the european maps a few weeks ago for a business trip to denmark and it was spot on.Speed camera software works well too. Also use it as an mp3 player and for general business use.Excellent bit of kit.VGA full screen emulator is worth a look.

| Briskodian | I also bought TomTom 3 for the road plus 1Gb SD card (still waiting for the X50v - 9 days to go apparently). Bought mine for aviation navigation backup use with a view to getting used to its functionality in the car. Will also load navGps and PocketFMS when the thing arrives. Can't wait. Scuse my ignorance but what's VGA full screen emulator about and where do you source it from? And can you get TomTom working in landscape mode? |

| Just ordered the seidieo mount!!. Looks slimmer than i was led to believe! Thanks for the link. The vga emulator makes your PDA screen identical to a pc one.For example, full desk top or full pages instead of having to scroll down and accross trying to view downloaded pages off 'tinternet. You have to be accurate with the stylus but everything is perfectly readable because of the vga dell screen.Got it off a customer.Willing to try e-mailing it if you like. |
