Re: 17 or 18 inch ?

18's will ruin your ride, if the car is lowered too much they may rub, and dependant on tyre size your speedo will be way out.
17's still spoil the ride, but for a larger wheel are a more sensible option.

I have some photos that I seen on ebay of a black VRS with 18" RS4s on it, looks awesome.

I am unsure how to post pics though!

Re: 17 or 18 inch ?

To fit 18"ers on a Fabia, you'd need 35-profile tyres, which will severely limit your choice. I think you can get Proxeses in that size, but I can't think of any others off the top of my head. IMHO, something that thin would look daft, let alone the atrocious ride you'd end up with - here's a pic of a 35-profile tyre on a Focus:

But it's up to you at the end of the day...

I'm presuming they are replicas ?

As the bosses RS4 has 19's.

Check they're 5x100 fitment and you should be ok.

And yes, go for 17's.

Result he'd really appreciate seeing those. You could either use an image hosting site such as photobucket or e mail them direct to me or Andy. I can put them up for you or pass them on.

Sorry disagree a bit. My 17's made no difference to the ride comfort of my car at all. And 18's will actually make your speedo a lot more accurate! As my 17's have brought the speedo up a bit compared to the Road Angels figure but its still under reading as all standard cars do.

If you go 18's then 215 35 18 is the tyre of choice! And dispite what people think there's plenty of manufactures that make this size. Have a look on Mytyres.co.uk Prices start from £50 for this size.

And it depens on what 18's you buy. Go for something like OZ SuperL's or T's and i'd bet they are a darn site lighter than TT comps.

By my reckoning, 215/35/R18s will make your speedo UNDER-read by about 3% - not much, but enough to have to make sure you're careful round speed cameras!

I apoliguise if im doing my maths wrong but from my calcs a standard VRS rim (205 45 16) has a rolling radius of 275mm
And an 18" rim with 215 35 18 has a rolling radius of 287mm

Hence moving the actual speed of the car up closer to what speedo says?

And my other point is that there's no noticeable difference in ride comfort from the 16's - 17's in my car.

No difference here either, maybe a tad less rolly which is good

Yes, I didn't think to include that the speedo already over-reads by about 5%, but you can't tell me the rubber bands on the car in that picture don't affect the ride quality...

Plus, the yawning gap between brake disc and rim looks naff IMHO, and makes it blindingly obvious that the wheels don't belong on the car (bigger brakes being one of the main reasons for bigger rims on performance cars, after all...)

Re: 17 or 18 inch ?

18's for show, 17's for go! lol I must admit, i've noticed a slight difference in ride quality with my 17's BUT i feel the 17's combined with the 40mm drop makes the car feel a bit more "stable"

17s have made mine a bit more crashy over imperfections in road but nothing major...
