Exclamation 2 or 3 year warranty??

I'm just looking through the documentation that came with my Fabia VRS and I came accross the ŠkodaAuto New Vehicle Warranty leaflet:-

Quote:
ŠkodaAuto are pleased to provide a two-year unlimited mileage warranty
against defects in material of manufacture on all its new vehicles. In addition
ŠkodaAuto U.K. provides a further warranty on new vehicles supplied by them,
through their appointed retailer network which is valid until the vehicle has
completed 60,000 miles or the end of the third year, whichever is the sooner.
I have just bought the VRS privately, but it was bought by the previous owner from Parkside Skoda, Bolton, who are not a franchised dealer (as far as I know).

Parkside Skoda New Cars

Does this mean I only have a 2 year warranty??

You will have 3 years from the date of registration of the car, as long as the vehicle does not have more than 60000 miles.

Whats the date and Mileage of your car?

First registered 27 Jun 2005, and 32000 miles on the clock.

How come it mentions the words "supplied by them" in the warranty text?

Re: 2 or 3 year warranty??

Your warranty will run to 27 Jun 2008, unless you pas the 60k mark first.

"Supplied by them" not sure what its driving at but possibly discounting gray imports, but the car is a Skoda and you should be able to have the warranty upheld at any of the UK dealers.

I would try popping into one of the dealers in the Skoda network to see what they say, but I dont imagine youll have a problem, its like any other private sale.

Re: 2 or 3 year warranty??

Cool, cheers. Yeh - it might be to cover grey imports as "Supplied by them" is referring to Skoda UK and a non-franchised dealer will be selling a car which is supplied by Skoda UK.

For the AA cover is the number the one in the Help On The Road booklet? i.e. 0845 7745745?

Thanks again!

Skoda Assistance (AA) number is 0800 526625 - this is 3 years from first registration of the vehicle and isn't limited to 60k in the third year like the warranty.

Cheers. Can I use this straight away or do I have to wait for the warranty card to come back - I want to know if I can cancel my RAC cover? Cheers

Re: 2 or 3 year warranty??

I would guess that Parkside get their cars from another UK dealer anyway, so you should be OK.
Maybe just give them a ring, and ask what the situation would be if you were to buy a new car from them today.

Re: 2 or 3 year warranty??

To get the AA cover transferred -ring Skoda 0845 number ( or send in the transfer slip) - nice thing about it that for remainder of 3 years -they will suspend any AA cover you have till the car cover expires. Intersdtingly i asked what to use as membership no -was told reg - thought AA covered member ,not car??
Warranty -2 years from Skoda, third (up to 60k) is by Skoda UK. Make sure service is /was done per the book otherwise you may bet probs - mine was lease company ,who sold it on at 13/14k with no 10k service -Main dealer reckons i've lost warranty.

Cheers. I wonder if I can suspend my RAC membership and resume it once the warranty expires? I've called them out once you see for my old car.

Yep, the service has been done every 10,000 miles at Parkside (last one done a month ago).
