312mm brake upgrade

Howdo,

Just a quickie!
Ive noticed that the majority of peeps on here use the genuine parts taken from the Audi TT and/or VW Golf GTi (correct me if im wrong)

Do any of the Seat range have this 312mm setup ie, Ibiza/Leon Cupra/Fr models and will the parts bolt straight onto the Fabia vRS?

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

Hi Mark,

I don't think the Seat range have the 312 mm kit, the ones from the Audi/VW cars just bolt straight on.

I have just completed this upgrade, and the difference is incredible. Massive stopping power and inspires a lot of confidence.

Jon :-)

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

the leon cupra r,has 323mm 4 pot brembo's which will go on,sort of,you need to space the wheels out and fit 17" wheels for clearance,we fit the 312's because they are nearly as good as the brembo's but more cost effective

I would assume it wouldn't be the 4 pot jobbies , 312's possibly?

I find it strange though how on a 225 audi tt they have 312's surely these are highly insufficient as they ain't that brill on a fabia??

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

Hmm... They're not 4 pots. I did some work on an 04 plate yesterday and had a quick look at the brakes... they looked similar to my Octy's but I didn't pay that much attention

I beg to differ on the performance thing but I wholly agree with the cost effectiveness, especially as they fit under vRS furby standard alloys.

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

Mine (Octy vRS with OEM discs and pads) are very good... If they're not superb (ha) on the Fabia then there's something wrong.

Discs are OEM discs i believe that were professionally grooved. Pads are standard pads but i will be changing them next time for some Mintex ones - i do get brake fade yeah .

Dont know about the fluid but it WAS changed i have no idea if its uprated but i will look into this

This is the second time I've seen this posted recently.

MkIV GTis DO NOT come with the 312mm brake as standard (unless it is the reasonably rare 25th Anniversary edition). They have 288mm disks like the Fabia.

The whole reason we can buy them from Golfturbo is because he originally did the upgrade on his mkIV GTI.

Just wanted to clear this up in case anyone goes looking for a set at a scrappies!

Interesting opinions - it's like a total transformation with my upgrade to 312mms - a H U G E difference. And yes, very cost effective!

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

They are a vast improvement on the OEM ones - 90% of the Brembo at far less cost (this opinion from a mate who had them and then spent mucho dinero in getting the Brembos).

Mine are OEM discs and pads and work great - some glazing sometimes with street use but a hard stop fixes that pretty quick...

If you don't notice a huge difference, summat is wrong with the setup - air in the line, not bedded-in right, etc etc...

Also the TT weighs between 100-300 kg more than the Fabia (depending on whose numbers you can believe for both cars) - easier for the 312's to stop......

HTH

Re: 312mm brake upgrade

The 312's are perfect for the fabia.

Mine are spot on now ive gte some better pads in them, the greenstuff ones i had were horendous.

The main reason i went for the 312's over the brembos was the fact that they fit in the oem 16" wheels I am trying to get the sleeper look you see and big shiney brembos kinda give the game away
