| Hi all, I bought some grooved 312mm discs for my Furby vrs with some red stuff pads AGES ago, however i was told the pads would wear the discs quickly so sent them back. The problem i've got is that that company i bought the discs & pads from said i could do the conversion without changing the calipers - when i questioned him he said he'd done numerous conversions using the standard Furby VRS calipers?! So anyways the problem i got is that i can't find any calipers or pads unless i pay north of £100-£200 (Cheapest calipers are reconditioned ones @ £67 each + VAT)!!!!! I was hoping for a decent 2nd set off a car that has 312mm discs as standard - any ideas on cars & where i can get some from? Have been looking for a written off TT i can nick 'em off, but can't find one anywhere! I need to get them quick as my current pads are nearly on the metal! Cheers in advance for any help. Chris

| I've got the carriers ready and already painted VRS green, so it's just the calipers and pads required. Have heard octy vrs ones will fit but not sure whether MK1 or MK2?

| Howdy, To do the conversion you'll need to replace both the carriers and calipers with the set off an Audi TT... The offset of the carriers for the TT caliper is different to that of the OEM Furby one... I got a set of Audi TT calipers and carriers off of eBay for £155... awesome price for them and went on a treat! (painted with flat green Hammerite; tip: give them 3-4 coats of paint otherwise temp fatigue can flake the paint off)... I got some 312mm Tar-Ox G88's and some Mintex Extreme pads to go with them... Experiencing many negative-G's now!!!! Bomski |

| Whats the furby vRS std disc size ? If it's 288 then the calipers will fit. All you need is 312 discs and carriers. Then just get pads to fit std vRS setup. I've done this upgrade on a Bora with 288 discs and it's defo just the carriers and discs.

See that's what the chap that sold me the discs, carriers & pads said, but i always thought you'd get more braking power with the bigger calipers?! Also golf turbo only does full kits. GSF Car Parts, cheap car parts direct to you have got some pads off a TT for £35 + vat eBay UK Shop - DUBSHACK COVENTRY: MK3 GOLF, MK4 GOLF, ENGINE'S also do second hand kits

| The calipers arn't bigger on the TT. The breaking force is greater due to the caliper gripping the disc further from the centre of the hub. If the vRS discs are 288, I'll put £100 down that the calipers don't need replacing

| They do need replacing on the fabia VRS. The fabia has a different caliper than the golf/bora/tt. The calipers on the 288 golf brakes are the same as the 312mm tt ones but the fabia 288mm brakes are completely different. For the fabia you need calipers, carriers, discs, pads and if you really want to be ok brake pipes

| Physically The caliper on the lucas fabia brakes is held in place with two 12mm bolts on the top and bottom guide pins. The caliper on the gold version is held in place by 2 7mm allen guide pins and a sping clip on the outside. They are just different braking systems but use the same disc Random but true.

| Your confusing me now ![]() If upgrading to 312mm and you have the correct caliper hangers for the TT golf then yes you will need the TT golf caliper too. I think the confusion is coming from the fact that the fabia lucas calipers will not fit the 312mm golf tt hangers So in answer to OP you will need the calipers from a golf/tt/bora/octy
