| Try doing a search for the fabia cup hlder installation. This will tell you how to remove the vertical slat beside the area you are trying to access which may reveal anything you need to know. Also try a search for the sliding out tray which can replace the gap as they will give you some good info.

Following receiving some Kenwood stereo keys yesterday I started taking the facia to bits in the evening. I took the radio out then took the open tray out beneath, then both vertical trims, the heather control trim and all the buttons... - and yes I have taken photographs throughout which will be on my website when I get round to writing it. When I reinstalled I put the radio in (difficult because of getting the cables to lie correctly behind) then tried to get the tray in - but it wouldn't fit. The rear part of the tray is higher than the residual recess once the radio's back in. Hence you have to take the radio out, at least part way, in order to get the tray out. As noted the tray clips in at the sides - you might find a thumb positioned each side pushing outwards whilst pulling will do it. Otherwise lever off the side trims (one catch top and bottom) to get better finger purchase. I've resorted to drilling two holes in the right hand trim in order to mount my mobile phone holder - originally used sticky pads but they're not up to the job - now bolted on...

| Yeah I had the Radio out to get SWMBO's tray out when I put the sliding drawer in.
