| Is Castrol GTD Magnatec 5W-40 a suitable oil for the furby. The website says it meets technical spec VW 505 00. Is this the same as VW 505 01. I have read the oil Guide but this seems to point to a Castrol oil that doesn't exist! Can anyone help. |

| 505 00 isnt the same as 505 01 therefore it is not suitable. Do a search and you wil find an extensive list of suitable oil.

| Don't think so mate. It has to meet the VW spec (505 01) as Ross stated above.

| I have added that new oil to the list of 505 01 oils in the FAQs. Interestingly, Castrol now sell an oil (Castrol EDGE 5W-30) meeting the new VW 504 00/507 00 specification developed specially for VW and Audi cars including those on Longlife service. | ok, ive had a go with the castrol 'what oil to use' tool. It gives 2 engines Fabia 1.9 vRS TDi PD (QG1- 96kW); oil EDGE 5W-30 and Fabia 1.9 vRS TDi PD (QG0/2- 96kW); oil EDGE TURBO DIESEL 5W-40 Does it make a difference as to which engine you got? will putting the EDGE 5W-30 oil in the Fabia 1.9 vRS TDi PD (QG0/2- 96kW) car makea difference? Both are 2003 onwards. |
