| I recently had a 20 K service and after driving 1K miles I found that the oil had been overfilled by over 1cm on dipstick. There was a mist of oil all over the engine bay and air filter cover. But not dripping any oil Do you think that I will have sustained engine damage? I cannot get to the dealer for two weeks. Please advise me . |

| 10mm of overfill doesn't sound too bad, so long as the oil isn't touching the crankshaft. Not sure why there would have been a mist over the engine bay though unles there is a small leak in an oil pipe, just wipe it off and see if it returns. My last service went just over the top mark but it soon burnt it off over a few 1000 miles. I wouldn't have thought it would do any damage providing the oil light doesn't come on.

| Thats quite a small measure over.Everytime mines in for service they always overfill it even though i tell them not to.They use those auto fill pumps and set a amount reqiured and it never is the same as what the engine takes.

| If your bothered by it take it back to the dealer and get them to drop a bit of oil out. The oil all over your engine is nothing to worry about really. It'll stop once the required level is reached. Then you can clean your bay up/ or take it to the garage for them to clean |

| I wouldn't be worried. My sumps 3.5l so it says in the book but it always seems to be above the mark of the dipstick. Hasn't caused me any problems though. Sometimes I check the levels when its not on a level surface so you might have to account for some inaccuracies. |
