Cool Gas is working!

It's all up and running now.

However the side effect is I think it needs to be tweaked elsewhere to get it to work as it really should. I'm not seeing much increase in power and its only marginally less smokey with it on, The engine sounds quieter with lpg injecting when its boosting/revving up, so it could very well be working more efficiently now lpg is going in with the air.

No leaks when it was tested, aside from joint that I'd done. but that only required one turn with a spanner to seal.

All in all, I'm very happy. Just waiting now to see what kind of economy benefits I get from it. Oh, and I need to sort that bracket out too.

No big explosions then - was hoping to see on the news that half of Devon had been destroyed by a massive unexplained explosion

"Economy benefits"? TV rights to the video?

Glad to hear you, car and Devon are in one piece, Jason. What exactly are tenterhooks? Been on 'em long enough.

Well, I'm pleased its working. Had the ultimate tester - a head gasket pump test kit attached to the boost line, and you could find out exactly when it cuts in (desd on 5psi) and he was able to push the gasket kit to 2 bar to show the rate of gas flow at that level of pressure - PSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTT! Was very fast! Actually ended up turning down the grub screw to about 4/6 of maximum as they'd sent it to me on max flow setting bearing in mind the "do not use full lpg injection rate as it might cause engine detonation in the cylinders....." (or something like that)

Time will tell. Have a feeling I'll be on the phone to Jabbasport in the week if I really do not feel any power gain.

Do they mean denonation as in pre-ignition or detonation as in BOOM!

Both sound equally as bad, but I can't remember the precise term used. It was something like "engine-knock."

Would be pre-ignition then - almost as bad as an outright BOOM! not not quite

Too much gas can cause bad stuff - I dont know the right term either but it isn't great

I'd imagine I noticed a far bigger increase in power due to being on a phase 1 generic map, the LPG made a good difference there but smoke wise not too much difference compared to a remapped car apparently

Fuel economy should be better if you don't cane it - be interesting to find out once it's properly retuned with gas

Is it pre-detonation? I dunno. I don't care. I'll just keep driving it.

You can get pre ignition on a diesel, if the fuel is combusting before TDC then the piston is going to try and go down when the crank is still trying to push it up.

Well, the gas "may" have blown something. I suspect the exhaust is blowing somewhere near the turbo, or the actual exhaust manifold has shot.

Hope to find out tomorrow.

within 24 hours. Hoping its a coincidence, but I was warned using lpg would raise exhaust gas temps, so it might be that....
