Hi to All

Two things starting to slightly irritate about the Fabia vRS this week.

The drivers seat squab seems to creak a little from time to time when pressing the clutch down. Is the start of the known issue of seat base squeaking?

The handbrake shroud came loose today and moved forward obscuring the release button. I pushed it back into place, but should it be secure?

The car has done 1125 miles.

IT is otherwise brilliant!

The first issue does sound like the start of the infamous seat base creaking. I think a couple of people have hit the 2nd one, but it does seem far less common (or people don't complain about it on here! ) As said, have a chat to your dealer and get it sorted under warranty.....

Luckily had neither of these problems. Mine has done 3K so far and has been spot on ever since I bought it.

I've always found Hayes to be very good. I'd nip back and have a word with Neville if I was you

My first vRS did the handbrake thing, but not the new one.
Must just be inconsistency in the manufacturing process.

Default Thanks folks

I am not worried about having repairs covered under warrnaty, just curious as to wether these are typicla niggles. Hopefully no others. Dealer visit is half a day minimum from my all too hectic life.

Just been out for a quick run around the lanes to see how it goes now it is mostly run in. Pretty good is (as you all already know) the answer. One thing though, it is definately under damped for my tastes. Who makes the best dampers for standard springs?

Mine started creaking over every bump. I decided to move the seat forward and then back to it's normal position and the creaking has now gone!

Might be worth a try before you go to the dealer

Have both these issues, had them from 200 miles, i am now at 1800 and the car has been with the dealership twice for stated problems and others. Problems still evident.

Turn the radio up?
No I have done a couple of the handbrake covers under warranty.
As for the seats if it becomes a problem rather than turn the radio up have a chat with your dealer.
With warranty claims you should be entitled to a courtesy car.

I don't think it's typical, i've had mine just over a year now and although i've only done 8.5k i've had no problems so far apart from the left front door seal is comming away. Apparently this is quite common and easily sorted out under warrenty.

I've heard some real horror stories about other makes of cars so apart from perhaps a couple of unlucky ones Skoda's seem to be generally very good builds. I think with any object as complicated as a car with so many componants and moving parts you will always get a certain percentage of cars that have teething problems.

Can everyone with creaking seats please post their weight so we can see if there is a pattern here.

My seat base creaks VERY occasionally. I have found it's to do with the height the seat is set at. It doesn't creak at my preferred height, but I sometimes catch the handle when I'm getting in or out of the car, and if the height accidentally gets changed, the seat sometimes creaks. Easy enough to fix in my case - I just re-adjust the seat height (although the warranty fix seems more permanent if it really gets on your nerves!)

[edit]Just for Jifster, I am a 16 stone pie eater, but seeing as the seat only creaks once in a while, I can't imagine that's the problem (you cheeky git! )[/edit]

My handbrake shroud was also A LITTLE loose when I got the car, but just pushing it back firmly seemed to lock it in place OK, and it's been solid as a rock ever since...

Other than those things, and the rattly door panels - which I've also now fixed (more to do with playing the stereo too loud ) I've had 21k of happy fault-free motoring!

Yeah I'm around 100 kilos too. But that ain't the point. I'm 6'2" too, so I'm thinkin' my weight is ok, I ain't overweight, and car manufacturers gotta make sure they make seats that can handle heavy weights. From what I see here, a lot of the owners are heavy weights

Yeh I was only joking.

I still don't get this kilo thing, i'm still using stones for weight, not sure I will ever go metric. Buying cheese at the deli counter is so complicated these days.
