Did the oil pressure warning light warn you that the oil level was low? I think you have just had a lucky escape. Learn from it.

the old fabia does use abit of oil when it's bedding in. Also those that had had there furby re-mapped do check your oil after the first few 1k's of miles

The oil will be thick black on a diesel - nothing really to worry about in this.

Was the car parked even on a slight incline? This can make a big difference to the reading on the dipstick. Doubt you will have done any permanent damage anyway...

TBH it is on a slight incline, I'll try when I get home on a more flat surface

Assuming yours is the same as mine, it needs to be between the two notches (bottom one is "min", top one is "max")...

Yeah, get it on the flat, pour a bit in, wait a minute of so and check the dipstick...repeat as necessary - remember you don't need to have it on the max though, probably best to have it a bit under that...

Where's the oil pressure switch on a Fabia vRS? I think most cars have it on the top end because when the oil level gets low it can't maintain pressure to the cylinder head.

Always worth taking a few minutes once a week to check the oil level, as this is the life blood of the engine, lubricating as well as cooling. Unless the oil level warning light has been flashing, I very much doubt whether you've sustained any damage. From now on, pop the bonnet once a week, check the oil level (maintain it at the maximum level), check the coolant, brake fluid level, and top up the washer bottle. After that, check the tyre pressures and condition, and the lights, then you'll be

Brake fluid access

How do you get to your brake fluid AIX Lad? I know its a service top up so I shouldn't have to do it myself but it seems hidden under so many pipes/ bits that I don't think I could take the top off let alone fill it or check the level! ;-)

Talking Good News!

Well some good news, when I got in my car at work to go home, I realised it was actually at a rediculas angle...

So when I got home I had it on a level surface and once the engine had cooled down, it was actually on the last notch, so it still needs a little top up but not as bad as first thought (which was that is was about 5mm lower than the indicator)

I did that once... it was on the drive which slopes down, marker was below the minimum level. Moved the car onto a flat surface, waited an hour, checked it again, and it was half way
