| Briskodian | Yet another... And to top myself Here are part numbers and illustration for the original SMIC on the Fabia vRS. It can be used in comparison to the other doc, so you can identify which parts you need to buy, and more important; which parts you don't have to buy because they are identical ![]()

| Briskodian | ok, I finally had time to make the comparison, and here's the sad news: Only one part is the same, and I'm not even sure about that one. It's the airpipe no. 6Q0 145 770 N and why this should be the same on both cars, I really don't understand, as the pipes connecting to this piece of pipe are not the same (not even same diameter). So when I buy, I think I'll be buying all items from the Cupra list, unless someone, who has already done the job, can confirm that this piece of pipe really is the same on both IC systems? List is still pretty usefull though. You can just print it, and go straight to your nearest Seat dealer to order all the parts.

| BRISKODA Staff | Will the FMIC fit i.e is there enough space between the radiator and the crash bar?

| Briskodian | that is brilliant thankyou for the info mate! Ive asked about the price before and the fmic itself is the cheap part... in the region of 250 but the piping.... something in the region of 500 so I've heard, its an expensive mod sadly good to have that info though . Dan |

| Briskodian | Starperformance have it all worked out, there is some "bumper bar mods" to be carried out and cutting some off the front outer bumper. Give them a call for a quote. From what I remember it's a fair price considering the cost of the parts. I've seen it sone to a few of their tunned cars now. Neat job. |

| To buy all the required parts, from a seat dealer will cost the a fair wad of cash.. if parts were bought from seat. I belive Allard do a fmic solution, altho its far from "oe look" Last edited by Neo_VR; 04-04-2005 at 23:10. |

| Retail it basically sucks price wise - wonders about pre-retail pricing ![]()

It is true that Ibiza owners have had to cut their spoiler in order to fit the FMIC, but that is because they don't have the Cupra spoiler (well Cupra owners do, but they already have the FMIC too )We already have an extended spoiler, which is pretty similar in dimensions to the Ibiza Cupra spoiler, and it has plenty of room for an FMIC. Our spoiler is based on the WRC spoiler, which has a monster FMIC behind it (I think this was in fact a quote from Ross Clarke back in 2004), so I really don't think any cuts or adjustments are needed for the Fabia vRS. Price wise it's true, it's expensive. A guy from Cupra.net showed me his invoice, and it's around 900£, then you have to fit it yourself (actually quite easy, even for non-pro-mechanics) or pay extra for that too. So naturally it will scare off most people, but I'm willing to put down the money to buy a FMIC, which was specifically designed for this (base) engine and enginebay. OEM is always more expensive, but it's functionality has also been properly tested. Fx. You have no way of knowing how an universal FMIC will effect the cooling of your radiator behind it, but I'm pretty sure the VAG people tested and OK'ed this, before putting the Cupra FMIC in production. It's a high-roller item I guess ![]()

I've found one for Skoda in my country, he orders directly from a Czech going by the factory every day to pick up parts and then ship'em on to my country. Quite a differnce in price I can tell you Two problems with this importer though: Very old fashion and has no parts cataloque + not very reliable He only imports Skoda parts. So if anybody knows of an english Seat parallel-importer, who can order from spain at pretail price, please come forward now ![]()

| £900 without fitting seems mad to spend on the ibiza FMIC and its not even a straight forward fit without mods to the bumper. ![]() At around £800 including fitting for an Allard one that will fit (okay it doesnt exactly look OE) but would perform at least as well is surely a better bet. Maybe the SEAT FMIC but with seperate custom pipes made up could be worth a look. I think Ross clarke was looking at this before he sold his.

![]() Allard in threory should be able to make some pipes up, although they may prefer to use their own fmic.

I strongly suspect they're fitting their own FMIC and not the OEM, but no pics to confirm this. What I'm going on, is pictures from the OEM FMIC being fitted on a Ibiza 130 PD (found at Cupra.net), and only part, which had to be hacksawed was the bottom of the bumper. Look at img 0216 here: http://photo.ing.me.uk/fmic -But that bumper is a standard Ibiza bumper, and our bumper is lower and pretty much has the same dimensions as the Cupra 160 PD front bumper, so I'm still convinced we would not have to cut the vRS bumper (and I'm talking about the OEM FMIC now ).

| Yes i have seen the pictures before on SCnet. maybe it would fit the vRS bumper but theres also the crash bar to be taken into account.. I do prefer the design of the seat fmic to the allard one. The outlet piping with the allard fmic runs over the slam panel and it looks like you would have to re-route the airbox intake. see link for fabia pd100fmic http://www.allardmotorcompany.co.uk/allard.asp

| Briskodian | I've seen Barrys mod, the first, then subsequent mods to another (Stars 3rd.), THEY DO REQUIRE MINOR CUTTING. |
