Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

Pretty much the same car as the Fabia arnt they?

Id be very happy with either, but I think the Fabia is a little less girly than the Ibiza.

This is the Gist I get too... Wondering if the fancy Seat 'Agile Chasis' will give it the edge though..

SEAT tends to be a bit more bumpy I find. Nice car though.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

You won't be jealous when you sit inside it.

Dash looks like its made from Mcdonalds toys.

And the looks aren't really my thing. Not a fan of the "I'm angry because I'm so constipated look".

But then again the Fabia does have the "I'm just a bit sleepy" look.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

A mate at work used to have the Ibiza TDI Sport & there was virtually no difference between the two. Although the Ibiza had a firmer ride than the Fabia.

FR is 130

Pre-03 Sport is 130

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

The vRS is more desirable I think. You see a Sport TDI on the road and think oh... just another Seat. The vRS is more interesting to look at, therefore imo better

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

'DONT BE FOOLED BY THE BADGE. Thats the moral of the story where diesal hot hatches are concerned, as the Skoda Fabia vRS has just nicked victory from the Seat Ibiza TDi FR.

The contest was close, but that was to be expected with two cars that share the same engine and platform, but it was the little things that made the difference.

Although the Ibiza may have the styling edge, there is still a distinct air of cool around the Skoda's squared off panelling.

The performance of the two was near identical, but it was the more complete feel, steering and ride of the Skoda that just edged it over the more raw, sporty Ibiza.

With both cars being so fast, useable, fun and economical, the real question is not which of these is best, but whether you really need a petrol to have a great hot hatch'

They also liked the vRS for modifying potential;

'Anonymity - The subtle styling lends itself well to the Euro Style customisation, and its unassuming stance means it is a great sleeper. Just see the faces of other hot hatch owners when you leave them choking on Skoda rubber!'

Nope they didnt make a 110 PD and all Ibizas bar the SDi are PD. All Sports (of the diesel variety) are 130bhp.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

The most annoying things about the Seat were:

Headlights misting
Windscreen misting
Dash/door rattles
Hard ride
1,000,000,000,000,000 other people had them!

I'm sure when I was looking at them there were a lot of 110 (non-PD) TDI's? They could be told apart from the Sport because they only had the 5-speed gearbox. I think the 110 engine was dropped at the facelift and the range became solely PD's...

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

Nope, there is a 100PD which had a five speed gearbox but thats not a Sport

The 110 bhp non PD was only available in the MK3 Sport.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

News to me, dont ever remember us selling one, I think thats incorrect. I think the 100PD was S and SE spec, much like the 100PD Fabia and vRS.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

Links?

They only fitted the PD engine (bar the SDi) to the Mk4 Ibiza (the same as the Fabia).

Mind you we had a link a while back and the garage selling the Ibiza admitted they didnt know a thing about it.

Off topic just slightly, but does anyone remember the Top Gear where the vRS beat the Mini Cooper S?

It was a normal cooper not a cooper s.

Quoted at 8.8 seconds 0-60.

Type fabia vrs top gear into google video.

Re: Ibiza TDI sport vs VRs

The Ibiza TDI sport looks the same as any other ibiza with alloys - so more stealthy but also not actually as sporty in appearance.

When I test drove one I felt the hard ride that is the first thing that everyone says about them! It did feel a little quicker though (and might be a bit lighter I suppose)

I think the 100bhp is now a sport and the 130s are badged FR
