Default A little help, clunk when in reverse.

Hey guys, Fingers crossed by January I won't have this problem as there will be a new engine and gearbox in the car anyway. I've just got back from a long motorway cruise (200 miles) and i spent most of my time at 80 in fifth, anywhoo, when I got home i had to put the car into reverse to get it into the garage. At first it just grated the gears and wouldn't go into reverse, on the 3rd try, there was a huge clunk and it id go into reverse but the clutch was biting lower down in reverse. Now, i tried a few more times but it is no way near as smooth as it used to be and there is always a clunk, fine once it gets there but just feels stiffer. All the other gears are ok it's just reverse that has a problem. It's a 1.4MPi, what could have caused this and could it be a big problem or should I just let the car cool down (it was very hot) and it should be ok?

Thanks folks,
Duggie.

I take it you where in Germany at the time.?
If not im sure you meant 80kmph.!
How many miles have you done on the clutch//gear box.?
Is your reverse on the same side as 1st gear, or 5th.?

It's a fabia so it will be first

Try dropping it into neutral and de clutching before you then go into reverse.

If that solves it then , UMHO, it isn't worth worrying about until you have it all changed in January.
