Changed my fronts at 40k. The rears look like they will make it to 60 quite happily.

I certainly don't hang around , but it's mostly motorway mileage so not too hard wearing on the tyres.

My dad's sierra estate got to 78k on the original tyres but he used to rotate all 5 including the spare every couple of thousand miles.

Had I done the same on my octy I'd have made it to about 65k before all 5 needed replacing.

Re: Michelins life...

I've had some good experiences with a company called BestBuyTyres. Basically you buy online (they've got some great value Michelins) and then choose where you want them fitted. Great stuff.
The web address is http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk

Re: Michelins life...

15k, and my fronts are kinda shot. Thinking of being a touch naughty and just swapping them for the rears. Rears look barely touched. Or, getting some new ones on the front, and leaving the rears as is.

I'm specifically after tyres that are good in wet/greasey conditions. Not bothered about uber-dry-grip, as I'm not a racer, but my daily commute is b-road, and it gets a bit mucky/greasy/tree sap insfested over the winter, and the OE Bridgestones on my car could have dealt with 240lb/ft going through them a little better...

Nothing naughty about that, it makes sense.

I bought my car with 12.5K on the clock and swapped the front and back on the second day I had it. The tread on the Dunlops on the front looked about half what was on the back.

Yesterday I clicked over 35K and changed all 4 (which looked uniformly worn to about 3-4mm) to Michelins. Michelin Energy E3A 185/60 R14 for my Fabia TDI on steel wheels - £174 inc fitting and VAT at Costco. Plus a £15 voucher for buying 4 at a time. Can't say fairer than that.

Re: Michelins life...

I really rate the Michellin Exaltos. My favourite tyres are the P Zero Neros - but I couldnt source any locally.

You can't beat the Khumos for all round grip/longevity/value for money - they look good too. If it was my money paying for the tyres, I'd have these every time.
