Default Noise

When I sit down in the car back or front with any force there is a loud grinding noise, this noise happens with any sudden movement of the car eg breaking hard bouning on the seats. It seems to be comming from the back end and if I push down on the back arch I get the same noise.

I am not a technical in anyway but is it just the suspension making a noise? if so is it normal or something I should get looked at under warranty?

Thanks for any help all

Sounds like a bush has worn out somewhere and you're getting metal-on-metal contact. From what you describe, may be inside the damper (which will need to be completely replaced), or perhaps a bush in one of the other suspension components, which will be able to be replaced, but will be a costly job...

Suspension faults can be dangerous, so best to get the sorted asap...

If you purchased the car new from a UK Skoda dealer then you should have a 3 yaer/60K warranty - in which case it will be covered to investigate and fix the problem. (I'm assuming that you haven't modified the suspension).

You sure it's not the rear brakes slipping? (for want of a better word)

Try applying the hardbrake further and see if it stops..

It was pretty bad yesterday to the extent if I shuffled on my seat it would grind, have tried the handbrake and still same problem.

The only other strange thing is that its not happning every day, just been out to the car and no matter what I do I cant recreate the noise, still suspension? just hope its making it on Wednesday when I take it in.

I think its because your handbrake isn't on firmly enough - I had the same thing, now cured. Do it with the handbrake off and see if you get the same noise.
