North East Exhaust recommendations please

So it looks like I'm commiting myself to keeping my fabia for the next 18 months at least. I've got itchy feet but having just this week completed the finance I think it might be a decent idea if I get off the car buying merry-go-round for a while and stash some cash for the next purchase.

So to keep me interested in the car can any North East based Brisky members recommend somewhere to get a stainless steel exhaust fitted. I'd be interested to hear what you've got and were you got it from, and a price if you don't mind.

I keep checking the for sale section to see if somebody is going to put up a full miltek system, but I haven't seen one for many months now.

cheers
Kevin

Re: North East Exhaust recommendations please

Hello mate, i'm from the North East too and i'm in a similar problem, except i've only had the car for about 6 months now

Was just wondering where abouts in the North East you're from? As I don't see many vRS drivers around here, and it'd be nice to have one to flash to every now and then

I'm in Newcastle - Hebburn, Tyne and Wear to be exact

I drive a 56 plate Black Magic vRS

Are they? I'd be (pleasantly) suprised, anyway I guess I should of added the word 'performance' before the stainless steel bit.

I live on the coast (Hartlepool) and there are a good couple of VRS's there, work in Durham but don't see too many about, all 4x4's.

bought my miltek catback system and magnex large bore decat down pipe from e-bay..... £224 for the lot it did go up to £315 son afterwards easy enough to fit but you do have to cut the old pipe off....... few scraped knukles as well

I think it is only the back section that is stainless on the standard exhaust

It isn't the A194 is it? As i see a red and sometimes black vRS driving down that towards whitemare pool roundabout on weekday mornings? I drive the opposite way towards washington as that's where i work :-)

Oh and sorry for resurrecting an old thread - been busy as of late :-)

Re: North East Exhaust recommendations please

Ah! Very cool, one of my mates is transeferring to Cobalt Park in the next couple of months He's not too happy about it though as the room he's moving to has glass walls so everyone will be able to see when he's goofing around

I'm currently working at Durham House, dunno if you know where that is? It's the massive black building next to the Galleries in Washington.

I've saw a Silver vRS around here but only once, and it was at the Cineworld/Asda at Boldon, dunno if you ever go there?

Really glad to see i'm not the only vRS driver around here, was starting to feel lonely

Flashed some women driver and stuck my thumb up the other day and she just ignored me and kept on driving lol

Oh well, hope to see you's pottering about every now and then! If I do i'll make sure to give a thumbs up

Re: North East Exhaust recommendations please

I do pop into Cineworld/Asda at Boldon often on the way home from work at around 7pm.

However I was there a couple of weeks back around 2pm to see Die Hard

There was another black vrs in our car park the other day, I didnt recognise it.

Re: North East Exhaust recommendations please

Cool, i'll have to get me one of those Briskoda sticker thingies for whenever a fellow Briskodian is around!

I sometimes work till 7 and go over to my girlfriends who lives in the Estate right next to the Boldon complex, so that's most likely when i've seen you

Oh well, in the future keep a look out for the ugly mug to my left frantically giving thumbs up to random vRS drivers lol

I fitted it myself....... not a hard job to do

If you are going for the cat-back only it is really easy.... 2 bolts to undo and a grinder to cut the pipe just behind the silencer (won't come off in one bit). Once the old one is off you just transfer the rubbers to the new pipe put it togther with a loose fit until it is hanging correctly then tighten it all up...... no more than an hour or 2. Use WD40 on the rubbers to make it easier to take them off and afterwards use the grinder to tidy the edges of the cut on the old pipe and keep it as a spare

If you are changing the downpipe then it takes a little longer as you need to remove the plastic cover protecting the sump etc 3 nuts connecting the downpipe to the turbo..... a little lacking in space but no real trouble

If doing it yourself is not in the game plan then you could buy it online if there is a good deal and I would imagine most garages would fit it for a charge
