| Oh dear? Well I am pleased with my bright yellow VRS from a dealer Only I feel I have been stitched up, due to my ignorance of the car market So I have jumped in taken the offer and now it is all over I can reflect that I have nothing Yes I have the car I wanted at the price I was prepared to pay, but on relfection I took it blind I was told if I bought the car at the special one day sale I would get "lifetime warranty" What is lifetime warranty, Well as long as you have the car irrespective of age then Skoda will give a lifetime warranty, but only if it is bought on this exclusive one day a year sale (it is limited to this one day sale as obviously it is worth so much) wow it is the car I want the price I am willing to pay, lifetime warranty whilst I owned the car Go for it Well I took the car, and am more than pleased with it, but I have no paper work showing this "lifetime warranty" I realise now the excitement has died down On the one day only deal it came with a full years TAX which I did get, though the car I traded had eight months tax on it anyway, perhaps I should have pulled the disc on arrival and sent it away myself to reclaim the unused tax, so maybe my own fault I will live and learn I suppose!, In effect my free full years tax was really only four months free tax? I was also on this one day exclusive deal offered an MP3 Player, as it was a car deal I took it that it would be the head unit, err No, it is a personal MP3 Player for the gym, Oh well, I am well pleased with the car Well I have searched high and low and there is no box in the car with a personal MP3 PLAYER anywhere to be found, so I never got that, but it must have been worth a tenner tops so not to worry All I have is the dealers headed letter to myself as a respected customer offering me all this with the dates, so I will keep it with the car details for when it comes to court if needed later I am happy with the car, and the dealer, after problems with my insurance Skoda UK helped to get the car taxed with free insurance for the initial period I am happy with the car, I enjoy my first VRS it is brilliant, but I feel due to my age and inexperince of car dealers I have let myself be ripped off, I am not up to confrontation i hope it is just paranoia and if needed the warranty will be correct Cheers for the early morning rant all National aka Jimbo |

| Re: Oh dear? I would take a photocopy of the letter to the dealers. Tell them you have not had any further documentation or proof of this lifetime warranty (and also never received the MP3 player for that matter) and are unhappy about this. If they refuse to play ball, threaten them with your sending the photocopy letter to Skoda UK. If they still refuse to play / try to fend you off then do send the photocopy letter to Skoda UK and await their response. If the response is unfavourable i.e. the dealer sold you a 'crock of sh*t' regarding the warranty, then take the dealer to court - you do after all have the original letter.

| Re: Oh dear? At my inept ignorance and stupidity or the dealers actions My excuse is I am old, and as such was brought up in "servitude" yes sir no sir you must be correct because you wear a suit and we have an outside toilet sir So I do not do confrontation, also I have only ever had brand new cars handed to me every six-months for the past 30 years, consequently I have only ever purchased two cars since I left the company recently The first was the Furby red tdi comfort, I read up on everything on here and had seen this car lying for sale and reducing in price over ninemonths in a garage showroom, I walked in looked at the Furby and the old salesguy incharge of the top of the range VWs made me wait by the only SKODA in the place and sent the new salesboy to me I embarrasingly asked if I could have a further reduction for cash, salesboy phoned his manager, and then agreed a further reduction. had a test drive then I slapped the full price down in new twentys, and picked the car up the next day (the old guy was a bit miffed It had been a grand car, no troubles ever, and I was quiet reluctant to trade it in for my VRS (I wanted to keep it as back up as I knew how good it was and never thrashed) anyway I am not "that" well off, so away she went My new VRS is excellent, but again I just put the cash down and took the car, it is just now the excitement of it has died down that It dawned on me it said this and that, but I never actually got it did I I was too keen to own my Furby It is hard to change a lifetime of servitude You all may laugh, but embarassingly that is my story out in the open, I am an honest open person "Jason" may confirm that Thanks all National aka Jimbo |

| Re: Oh dear? Hey Jimbo, If you paid what you thought was a fair price, and you are happy with the car, hey ho, what's £20 for an mp3 player? Re. the warranty, just check all of your paperwork, it may not all have arrived yet, and if it doesn't add up properly, ask on here for advice, it's free.

| Re: Oh dear? Hiya Jimbo, I would be very suprised if the parts and labour warrenty is any greater than the standard 3 years, else it will most certainly be for the lifetime of parts and they will be put down to wear and tear in anycase. Reading your original missive the first thing I thought of was that you had been offered the Autoglym lifeshine free which is supposedly warrentied for life iirc. In the end if you are happy with the car and the price you paid then sit back and enjoy, you even got the bestest colour I hate spending money as well and allways think 'have i done the right thing' after a major purchase but hey ho once its spent ![]() Enjoy fella

| Re: Oh dear? Jimbo. As long as you are happy with the car you got for the price you paid then that's what counts. In terms of the warranty I think it might be best if you did get a little confrontational and ensured that you confirmed the warranty as soon as possible. It will be much, much harder to sort out in the event that you need to rely on it.

From my point of view (hopefully echoed by many others on here) there is nothing to laugh at, nothing whatsoever to be ashamed of in being polite, honest and trusting others will be as straight as yourself (I'll believe you ). I've been 'bitten' in several ways in the past but still try to be optimistic that these are one-offs - it has hardened me a little, sad to say. Regarding actually purchasing the car - it is too too easy to get all excited and, inevitably, forget something. I think I've probably forgotten one or more questions I meant to ask at every single car purchase. On the most recent, I had made many notes to check and one note (from info on Brisky) to double-check the Symphony CD player. The dealer half-showed me but too much was going through my mind. It was only several days later when I tried to eject the CD (hadn't played it at all as I was having too much fun with the car) that I realised the unit was faulty. That required 2 trips and a delay of around 6 weeks for a new one to be fitted Irrespective of what I've written above, try to nail the dealer down for the documentation for the warranty.

| Re: Oh dear? If you don't want to confront them and / or their far away, why not just send them a letter? Just address it to the service manager, and ask for documentation or written confirmation of the lifetime warranty and what it covers (ie - parts / paintwork / labour etc). It would also be a good way to ask them what isn't covered. Let them know the MP3 player wasn't in the car when you received it, and you had expected would be sent out to you in due course. As its not arrived yet, ask if there has been any problem with the supply. If they have run out of them, I'd expect some sort of gift of equal value. The letter doesn't have to be confrontational or threatening, certainly not at this stage. You'll probably (hopefully) find they'll deal with it professionally and swiftly and sort everything out. Good Luck Ross M |

| Re: Oh dear? Hi All Thanks for the support I am going with rossm's suggestion, a non confrontational letter With an innocent I have not received any paperwork yet with the lifetime warranty and have not yet received my free in car mp3 player That way I do not have the embarrasment of fronting up and I will have a hard copy reply, then I can take it from there Good idea thank you Regards to All National aka Jimbo |

And, yes, take a big big lad with you - difficult sometimes to 'negotiate' if there is more than one person 'going at you' (talking etc). And, I take it they asked - if someone had summoned me I'd give them hell, you did them the favour by giving them trade (they were the ones who let themselves down). Seems, then, they've been spying on Brisky - serves them right if they're getting a bad rep, might cause them to get their act together and treat customers fairly.

First thing this morning they called my home (I was at work) and asked my wife to ask me to go into their office and sign the warranty paper work and that there was a delay on delivery of the MP3 Players It is just paranoia on my behalf really, as I expected to drive away with the warranty paperwork and the mp3 player,as part of the deal After two weeks of nothing I thought well if there is no MP3 Player or any word of it been delayed then maybe the warranty does not exist either and panicked What dealers need to remember is the car maybe bought and paid for, but that car is going to need serviced, and due an expensive cambelt change soon, along with the little odds and ends like mid service oil purchases, car mats, lamps. extra sparkly bits you fancy, pre holiday check out So do you go to your on the ball dealer who gave everything as advetised or do you hesitate, once bitten twice shy and go elsewhere What I "want" to do is build up a rapport with Norman Fairweather and put all my business there, convenient to me, money for them, and a friendly rapport Now I am in the position of pure embarassment, from having to stand my ground over what is really nothing but a little pride Warranty hopefully never needed, and in all honesty even on a brand new car it has small print, wear and tear so on a three year old well it will be all wear and tear An MP3 Player, not the end of the world really is it, you can get a SONY head unit with all the bells and whistles fitted at Halfrauds for sixty quid I am begining to rant All I want is to go to the bakers and buy two filled rolls and not walk out with one filled roll and a roll with nothing in it, then have to go back and ask them to put the bacon and brown sauce in it National aka Jimbo | |

| Re: Oh dear? Would not worry about it mate you are totally within your rights to chase them up for stuff, if they have offered you it and you have evidence to back it up. ![]() You will always get good and bad dealers just a fact of life.

| Re: Oh dear? I was never offered the MP3 player or lifetime warranty. Will be a Mickey Mouse warranty anyway. Wont cover anything that might actually go wrong. Even the Skoda extended warranty i have doesnt cover that much. Doesnt cover oil leaks, water ingress, wiring faults etc etc. Speaking of paranoia, tomorrow, they will have had my car for 3 days to replace a clutch and a door handle, and reseal a door carrier.. I will get it back to my work anyway, and get it up on a ramp, see what they have done... ![]() |
