| Briskodian | Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) I've just sold a 52 SEAT Toledo SE and bought a Fabia VRS but have lost a few toys in the switch over (gained power though). I thought that the audio in my Toledo was good but in the VRS its not so good. What is the general opinion on the standard CD headunit and the speakers? If it is accepted that it is poor then i'd think about replacing the speakers for same sized better ones and a better headunit Thanks |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) Its not bad tbh. Pretty good bass, tweeters arent great. I've got my Infinity basslink in the boot, all the music faded to the front two speakers which I have running off an external amp at 35wrms. Thats standard speakers btw. Sounds alright, will probably put some JBL's in at some point but does me fine.

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) The quality is good enough for my usage, but although i'm not a hi-fi fanatic i can see that it isn't the best. However it isn't the worst either...

| Briskodian | Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) Thanks for the comments. I pick my VRS up next week and my opinion was only based on the test drive where I was concentrating hard on not running anyone over or crashing (nice torque!). Seems like its worth keeping standard speakers then. |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) I have no quibbles with the sound system in my vRS, it's perfect and no need for me to go overboard with a sub or anything. I know what you mean about the ford stereo's they are dreadful and huge! Davy

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) It's not that bad once you've fitted a decent headunit. I added a 12" sub to mine as well, but that's because I like hearing the kick drum in a song. |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) for OEM it's not too bad. The OEM HU and speakers in the mk1Octi vrs is another story entirely. My only real grumble with the Fabia vrs HU is poor radio reception in certain areas. Before anyone says anything I know its the HU, I can listen to all radio stations programmed into my HU (mk1 Octi OEM) while sat on my drive at home however my wifes fabia vrs doesn't pickup any reception at all on our drive. This doesn't just apply to our drive either. |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) IMO Though it's not rubbish... The HU is OK but lacks EQ. The amp lacks "balls". There's a lack of mid-bass and bass. Main problem I have found is not with the factory ICE. It's the high road noise that the Fabia VRS tends to generate on normal tarmac or god-forbid concrete. J.

I think the OEM HU is good for sound, enough bass for me at low levels, but like you said the Radio's a POS, constantly cutting out every 10 seconds or so on some radio stations and downright refusing to find others | |

| Briskodian | Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) i have had my fabia for 6 months and found the head unit to be ok. but when you want to listen to some loud music it doesn't like it too much. But it is loads better than what i had in my last car (04 Vauxhall Vectra). |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) Mine is terrible, although i have a Pioneer HU, the front speaker is obviously blown, as i have the bass set at -2 and it vibrates like hell. |

Mine sounds like the speaker's blown and if I'm seriously bored over a weekend I might just take the door card off and have a poke around.

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) I've had look but can't seem to find the exact one I was thinking of but a search threw up loads of other threads about the front speakers buzzing. Concensus seems to be taking the doorcard off and adding some packing between the membrane and door card. (if I read them correctly) Example 1 Example 2 I'm losing it, I'm sure there was a 'How to..' guide on here for the removal of the Fabia doorcards but endless searches reveal nothing. Strange ![]() HTH! Matt edit: tfboy (Xavier) did do a 'How to..' with pictures and everything but his link to it just links back to the Disscussion Forum page. x2 now

| Briskodian | Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) The oem stuff aint bad for a manufacturer. I replaced the headunit and front components remivng the cross overs and rewired to run each tweeter off its own channel on a 4ch amp. The just set a sub box in the back wired to a mono amp. Faded it to the front abit and seems pretty good. Not the biggest or best install but relitively cheap and does sound very good as you can get very could punchy notes from the front components. The sub box isnt really needed. A set of 6x9's would have easily of been good enough but i didnt want to cut the parcel shelf and it was just as cheap to set in a sub ![]() |

| Re: Opinion on the Standard Audio (VRS) I used to have a big SQ system in, but sold most of it to fund a house move. I've got the standard system back in now, and I think its fine for standard and not bad enough to bother upgrading (for now). I don't have to worry about it getting stolen, saves a load of weight and I've my boot back. I do have a 45sq ft of Dynamat Xtreme on the front doors though, which makes a unbelievable difference ![]()
