Parking Sensors Question

Hi,

I just missed out on an OEM Fabia parking sensor retro fit kit on ebay the other day.. should've gone upto £55..anyway, I can buy a 3rd party kit for half that and hide the stupid display under the dash so only get a nice OEM'esk beep..

Question:
Will 3rd party sensors mount in the rub strip? or do the OEM sensors come with some kinda of special colar for this purpose, as the rub strip is curved, aint' it, and flat sensors would look rubbish.

I did search this, honest, but can't find an answer to my question...

Just to make it clear, I'm on about a mk1 NON vrs bumper. I could mount them in the actual body colored part.. but would be much nicer and OEM if I put them in the strip.

any info, views welcome! Thanks!
Rob.

Unhappy Re: Parking Sensors Question

I Think I'm being blind.

I search for "parking guide" to be as vauge as possible, but all I can find that close is a broken link for a VRS retrofit guide. :-(

Thanks though..

I fitted the OEM 4 sensor kit to my Octavia 4X4 without any problems and have the OEM 3 sensor kit for the Fabia to fit soon. I would recommend borrowing or buying a step drill like the one below since it takes the guesswork out of cutting the correct sized holes cleanly.

Yeah, That's another reason why I wanna put them in the rubbing strip. I've got an elegance ya see.. so just the black plastic to replace if I c0k it up!

Thanks for everyones replies but they're not really answering my question.. I'm just wondering if it IS possible to fit after market sensors to the rubbing strip.. or if they as too flat and wont sit right?

Thanks again guys, I did find that guide but it's for a VRS.

This sounds more like what I need, as it must be 3rd party if they're "hiding the naffo disply" anyone any ideas where this is?

Thanks

Re: Parking Sensors Question

I did an oem kit fit to my Octy vRS. I had to get a cone drill bit though as the vRS combi doesn't have a rub strip.
