PD 130 lump complete with ecu

One for those mods that have gone wrong ?

Parts & Accessories : VW Volkswagen Golf 1.9 GT TDI 130 PD Engine

Care should be taken, don't know how long the turbo has been sitting with no oil.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Quite tempted as a spare.

Although I won't need any turbo's or ECU - tempted to make an offer for just the block itself....

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Word of warning (based on what's happened with my engine )

Even though the engine code is the same between the Fabia and Golf models, there ARE differences.

The most annoying one is the oil filter and associated stuff, I'm gonna explain this badly but basically it is at a different angle and standing away from the block, vs the Fabia one which is almost flush with the block. Also sensor wiring is on the other side.

As a result of this, plus an opportunity to buy a Fabia PD130 block with 11k on the clock for a reasonable premium, that's what's gonna be done now.

You CAN use loads of that engine though, so might still be worth it

Turbo is also different the the Fabia one as we know.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Indeed - however the turbo (incl manifold) bolts over from the Fabia version to the Golf version. That said oil feed lines are different to the turbo so it gets messy quickly

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

In that case, if it's not a straight swap (with using my box and turbo) I won't bother.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Its not that complicated to do. Basically there are just a few ancilleries that would need to be swapped over, the block itself is the same.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

So I could swap the oil filter housing over - what about the sump sensor plug - was that what was meant by "wrong side" ?? A sump would be easy enough to swap over though.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Totaly off topic, but I was thinking about this the other day;

Jason, when you did your engine transplant were you never tempted to source a PD160 from a Ibiza Cupra (including the FMIC), or is it not possible to transplant one in to a Fabia?

I wanted Skoda to try and maintain some common features. I'm not sure when the pd160 came out, but I planned my conversion in June/July 2005. Besides, with that I wanted to do with the pd130, there was really no difference between the two engines once I'd modded everything.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

When I was there at last TRAX - I saw a car that had TWO engines - they had put one in the rear as well.

Nice way to double your power, get the weight balanced 50:50 and have true 4-wheel drive. Economy would be an issue somewhat, methinks..

What do you think Jase? Sounds right up your street mate....

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

The problem is you have to get two very well matched engines. If they either differ to greatly or are set up differently then one just pulls or pushes the other.

Re: PD 130 lump complete with ecu

Sorry, but the thought of having another pd130 in the boot, and the wiring/etc that would involve.... I would rather not.

How the heck do they get the rear axle to run the power? Is it that they steal the rear axle from a VAG model or do they put in the front axle of a donor car?

If the latter, does this allow the setup for 4-wheel drive steering like the evo?

sounds totally mental but brilliant, I must say....

Jase - so you say now. Settle down for a few months and the modding bug will start biting again - and I have a feeling where you'll be headed, hehehe

Cheers!

If I do anything it will be on a different car, whilst keeping the mongrel at it's new level. I might start scouring the car auctions for something to mess around with to give the mongrel a break. She needs it.

Off topic - hows the mongrel going Jason? Had a progress check from Allards or has it been let out already?

Usually either have a space frame at the rear or weld front chassis legs to the rear and mount it as front.

They had 130 ones I think too. ARL was 150, this is the 130 ASZ.
