Default Pembos poor fabia...oil consumption

Now then all, long time no see!
I have a slight issue with my car, started 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I drove to work (about 35 miles) with oil filled up to just below max. And when I was coming out of car park to come home it was showing the EPC and Engine light. I stopped the car, checked the engine and found the oil was low (at min), so filled it up and restarted car - EPC light went out and engine one stayed on. Drove home and checked it there, no oil usage and when I restarted the car all the lights were off.

Drove the car then for 2 weeks doing daft little journeys and kept checking it, and its all ok.

Then... drove to work yesterday ... fine... Went to drive out car park, same lights + oil situation. Refilled oil, and EPC off, engine one still on.

Car drives fine, with no smoke + no excessive water / fuel consumption.

Ive been told that it may be that the airfilter is cloged and its drawing oil up thru the carb due to back pressure + a filter change and oil change should sort it?

Anywho, Ive filled it back up to 3/4 and setting off to work so hopefully it will get me there.

In the mean time any advice on what it could be?

If you don't have a carb is this engine possible single point injection.

I'd get the oil breather hose and filter cleaned/replaced and pop a new air filter in. If you're doing and oil and oil filter change it's worth doing that too and I'd also use a forte flushing agent in it to clean out the passage ways.

I'd then keep an eye on it at regular intervals to see if it's loseing a bit here and there or just a single big gulp.

The only question is where on earth is the oil going, and you do have to find that out.

Hmm, I have had it to a garage and the bloke had it on the ramp and couldnt see anything - I also keep checking under the car but again cant see any pools. I did once see a "splatter" of what I presume to be oil on the floor under my car but it might have been from the car that was previously there as I havnt seen any again after that.

As I believe your car is a 1.4 16v (like mine), I would start by cleaning the breather in the air filter. Mine seems to run better and use less oil since I did this.
