Plastic Under Fabia Floor Exterior

Hi
Noticed on my sons 53 plate Vrs there is plastic panels going from front to rear of car , on my 06 vrs there is no panels..
So basicly wondering what advantage/disadvantage there is with the plastic panels..? ie better sound proofing or harder to get at a nut and bolt etc.
Any info appreciated..

Re: Plastic Under Fabia Floor Exterior

I too have this fitted to my 03 model and also wondered why it was fitted

Originally i thought it was for directing air to the fuel cooler but realised its on both sides

Re: Plastic Under Fabia Floor Exterior

Hi

The plastic panels/sheets run from the front of the footwells both sides to the rear of the footwells , basiclly plastic covering the whole of the underside of the floor..
Not really sure if its one piece or two now will check in a little while..

Re: Plastic Under Fabia Floor Exterior

They cover fuel/brakepipes and up to the fuel cooler, just an extra layer of protection, soundproofing and Skoda removed it on facelift along with the battery cover etc as a wee corner cutting exercise.

I would as these covers protect a bit and trap mud+dirt+water - so they should IMHO get removed every three years or so so that you can clean out what has been able to get trapped in there - these sort of now rusting retaining "nuts" are a bit of a pain to get off - I'd buy quite a few first as some will end up not being re-usable.
