| Briskodian | Skoda Fabia pump issue Hi Guys first post so please be gentle with me ![]() The wifes 51 plate skoda fabia tdi has no power steering atol the light came on a couple of months ago but it seemed to be fine took it into our local skoda dealers and they said it would be one of 2 things the pump or a sensor My wife kept driving it as we did not have the money to fix it at the dealers but knew it would have to be fixed so started saving Over the last couple of months it got worst becoming snatchy one minute heavy then light Anyway it gave up the ghost the other day no powersteering now atol I checked the battery and alternator charging at 14.2 volts at tick over i am not sure about the flashing lights as i don't drive the car but the wife thinks that the lights flickered when she turned the steering on tick over she also says there was a wee wee noise when she turned the steering on tick over Can anybody tell me is there anywat to tell if its the pump or the sensor or because there is nothing now does that mean its the power steering pump that is knackered thanks guys any help would be appreciated |

| Re: Skoda Fabia pump issue I have no idea where it is on the Fabia but on the Felicia you need a screwdriver to loosen and tighten the dipstick+cap which is near the radiator. |

| Re: Skoda Fabia pump issue Get the fault codes checked, could be a faulty sensor. If the sensor has a plastic cap on it i'd update it to the metal type anyhow. |

| Briskodian | Re: Skoda Fabia pump issue *Leeching on your thread* My power steering has stopped working for short periods about 5-6 times. Everytime it did so, the problem has been the battery. Last time it happened was 1 week ago, and the power steering hasn't come back since - the battery was probably damaged from having gone totally flat. My question is if anybody knows if driving without power steering can be harmfull to my Fabia? I've driven it for about 15 hours this week, while changing batteries back and forth (didn't find any with enough juice yet), and I wouldn't want to damage anything (or would I? :@) |
