Default Something a bit unusual

Can anyone point me in the direction of the specs for the fastest Fabia in the UK ? I know that sounds like bravado but I am very tempted to convert my vRS Fab into something a lil bit special as a sleeper project and wondered what kinda money I would need to fund the project ?

Chipping it is par for the course but I am looking beyond that......NOS may be ? or is that a little too much fast and furious ? I want to end up with a car that shifts like **** but looks like it doesn't

I think black magic's fabia is probably the quickest at the moment. Mine won't be too far behind soon.

I think his is pushing 235ish in BHP - I'd like mine to be 210+ once done.

I believe there was a NOS'd Fabia up for sale at one of the dealerships for about 15k, but apparently one of the salesmen had a prang in it. Are you looking to mod the PD130 lump or is replacing it with a lighter, more tuneable 1.8T an option?

I didn't really want to go as far as an engine transplant, I was just interested in knowing what is possible with all of the obvious mods. Over 200 bhp has got to be fun in a Fabia

Read my EGR Valve post.

I thought black magic's was only pushing 215 bhp? what mods has he done as he doesnt say much on the forums about his car from what i've seen.

TBH your mod list for 210 BHP goes:

Hyrbid turbo.
Turbo back exhaust.
FMIC (I know 210 can be done without this but I would be concerned about losing power).
Custom remap - Custom Code 2 looks good at the moment.

STAR Performance and AmD both offer tuning packages for £2,250 -> £3,000 to get the magic 210 bhp, however im unsure whether these include an FMIC.

To get more than 210 BHP I would consider NOS as new injectors will cost you £££ and it does start to become hard to extract any performance for reasonable money.

If you haven't already got your car remapped I would suggest doing that however as you will suprised how quick it is even if it's only pushing between 160-180 BHP.

Surely the fastest fabias in the UK are in Leeds at Prospeed.

Or is that cheating?

I'd think a 1.8T conversion would offer the most bang for buck, especially because it's a well known platform, for which all the tweaks have been done.

If you really want a lot more than 300bhp, then I think front-wheel drive will be a limiting factor.

You'll struggle to get much more than 210-215ish from the 1.9PD lump, and if you plan to use it for 0-60 drags, diesel isn't the best thing. For "real-life" though, torque is great

Also, if you want it to remain discreet, you can't have too many physically-visible mods. Exhaust, brakes and fmic can be done discreetly and with taste, mind you

I would imagine you'd have to go the uprated injector route to claim the fastest "non-WRC" Fabia title

I think it's quite a pricey upgrade though!
Otherwise I'd agree with the above, and think about 210 is the limit.

How deep are you pockets? And how far do you want to go? I mean do you want it to be still your daily commute?

To be honest as much as I'd like to break the 200+bhp barrier, I dont want to if it kills the car, plus it would cost too much.

Now project 1.8T lumps sounds good!

I think he's running hybrid turbo, twin intercoolers from a TT (although he was talking about a FMIC), bigger injectors (?), milltek ehaust with race cat (instead of sports cat) & remap to suit.

My thoughts exactly.

Mine is daily driver & I'm very happy with what I've done. People who have driven it say it's amazing & didn't expect it to be that quick.
The Milltek turbo back exhaust will top off things nicely (Group Buy pending!). Not doing any more (famous last words! ). If the clutch starts to fail, I'll consider an uprated one.

Suspension is sorted, brakes are sorted. Jobs a good un.
