| Sounds different Ok, I know it was some weeks ago, but Tom said my vrs sounded more beefy/gruff and asked me why. And I've no idea! It's got the green cotton filter and intake (like toms) and jabba remap. Any other reason for the deeper note? Also I've noticed it's been smoking alot lately, infact at the RR day it got a few laughs! (I have a video of it if anyone could host it for me hint hint) any thoughts?

| BRISKODA Staff | It's a bit cooler now...and as cooler air is more dense does the ECU give more fuel because of this?

| Well, Mikes car definitely sounds gruffer than mine, and aside from the remap engine spec is identical. Ricodars also sounded a little noisier than mine, but not in the gruff sense (his isn't remapped mind). How can a remap make an engine sound different then? ![]() I did notice that mine was much smoother after the first service, and it was filled with variable servicing spec 506.01 oil. Could this make a difference?

| Cleaned my Green filter a few weeks ago & the induction noise sounds a bit deeper now. Have you had a clean out?

| Also I've noticed it's been smoking alot lately, infact at the RR day it got a few laughs! any thoughts? I had the Jabba remap a couple of weeks ago and now get a lot of smoke when driving using the torque - at 90 - 120 (private track) i can't see anyone behind as it's so bad and seems to get worse the quicker i go?

| All diesels smoke when you have full throttle, or the engine is labouring. A remap gives more fuel, therefore more waste will be created, thus more smoke. Try going down your private track at night, at full speed for as long as you can, then just back off the throttle, and look in the rear view mirror. You have your very own firework display Red hot carbon particles.

| dont get me wrong guys I know remapped diesel will most likely smoke, it just seems extra smokey and noisey the last couple of months. To be fair it doesn't get as used as much at the moment, basically it's a weekend car. Could that be the reason?

| I've had the Jabba remap and I can't say I've noticed the noise increase at all! Secondly, when I put my foot down, there is smoke but I wouldn't say it was excessive, at least from what I see in the rear view mirror. i remember Mike at Jabba saying that at 196 bhp it was smoking too much so he trimmed it down to 193 bhp. Maybe there is a fine line between too much bhp=smoke?
