Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

Well, for £30 over the superchips price Jabba will do you a custom remap on their rollers which means lots of tweaking and lots of power runs to get it set up right. Normally £425, but not sure if you get anything off that, or even if there's a group buy running at the moment?

I looked at that, but REALLY i'd have thought you should have additional mods to benefit from a custom jobby!!

Jabba's generic map is £325 inc vat....you'll get a full diagnostic check before hand but not a rolling road print out. Can be had for extra though.

Full remap is £425 but BRISKODIANs get a 5% discount or 10% if on a group buy.

For £403.75 (5% discount) the custom map can be tailored to you're requirements...includes 3-4 hours of rr times and before/after plots.

If you have other mods to do then the custom map will tak ethem into consideration but, it every engine is different so will map out differently regardless of other mods.

Sounds very tempting! for a few bob over the superchips generic price.

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

you don't "need" other mods - the generic map will be the same and should give more power with other mods. If you get the pd160 intake fitted before going to Jabba that will help on its own.

Bonus is that if the car is run up on the rollers they will often find any other problems you have with the car.

We have had 2 cars mapped by Jabba, both custom maps & the results were worth every penny

It's bit like buying a suit off the peg which will fit, but spend a little extra and have one tailored and it'll fit you perfectly.

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

I've not driven a Superchipped car, been passenger in a custom-mapped Jabba one.

Regardless of this:

* Custom map by ANY (good) tuner will beat a standard map in many ways
* With a custom map you can specify you want to avoid a massive torque spike
* Custom map tends to have more power & torque output (unless you dont want it)
* It's engine specific so it's likely to get the most out of it

The price difference in this case, especially with the discounts Briskoda members get, would swing it towards Jabbasport in this case, for me at least, in that situation.

Totally agree though, you definitely want the PD160 air intake fitting pre-remap, or give Jabba a buzz and I'm sure they can get you one in

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

mine produced 195 bhp and 323 lb/ft of torque on jabba's old rollers. if the figures are correct that means it's 30 bhp more than superchips quote and iirc 50 lb/ft of torque more. the only mods where cupra intake and a green panel filter. the car had covered 5,000 miles.

nashchrs, if your coming to the Yorkshire meet on the 28/05 @ 3pm at Xscape I can show you what the Jabba'd version of the vRS is like

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

Mine is generic on my Fabia, and it goes very well indeed. Naming the tuner would be a bit unfair, so do some reasearch under threads started by me.

163 at the wheels on Awesome GTi's dyno, and 305 ft lbs, but the flywheel used to shake at that, so now its 285 ft lbs.

It's as powerfull and as quick as one fitted with an fmic.

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

Mine is a Custom Jabba and I've also driven a Celtic generic mapped car albeit with Milltek exhaust and I can honestly say that they feel very similar and if anything, the Celtic car revved easier at the top end.

Not sure if this could be contributed by the Milltek Turbo back system though, as this was quite a bit louder too when 'on it' which in turn contributed to greater subjective speed. Very impressive though, mine is sooo quiet by comparison.

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

Also the general consensus appears to be that whichever tuner you go for, unless they are totally cr@p, you'll get an improvement on the PD engines.

You have mild maps like the 'standard' AMD one-click, which already makes an excellent difference in driveability, from thereon it's just more power & torque etc.

Cheaper options are digital or analogue tuning boxes/resistors (respectively) and if not used too crazily they can give you a lot of the benefits too

take that with a large pinch of salt and a splash of vineger!

just with remapp and larger intake will see 165-180 on a remap, on a cold day 180 less when the smic become heat soaked. 195 is a mad figure! thats 5-8bhp less than a curpa tdi 160 remapped. infact i haven't had it on the rollers but you 've got 328lbs/ft i'll be lucky to see that! sorry but realistic the power increase is to between 170-180.

p.s custom code at head office are doing 15% discount at mo i think may just be ended. also back to thread rolling road tuning is best. and worth extra dosh

also consider serouisly to have a brake upgrade and suspension change. need it to handle power! 150bhp+ or a hedge will be damaged.

jabba over superchips everytime!

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

Errr - neither of the above, but had mine done at APS Brackley. I'm well pleased, it's more what I wanted (these are very personal things .

It's much more driveable (and that's what I asked for) than the one on my previous vRS.

They tune it out on the road with a computer, so you get exactly what you ask for.

VG price too. I think on its own about £400 inc VAT, but I had some other stuff done too Roger M

Well ive seen a PD with hybrid turbo and and nearly 220bhp and it hardly smoked more than stock, if you dont want smoke go for superchips IMO.

Our Octy 110 went to 164 at jabba with 393 N/m of torque, you can see a small amount of smoke at night if you boot it after youve cruised for many miles but If I recall correctly it was like that before.
The cars now got 112000 miles on the clock & it was mapped at 8000, its still on the original clutch & mpg averages in the low 50's so I guess they got it about right. Im certainly very pleased with the result .

Re: Superchips £395 vs JabbaSports £325

If you can go for a custom version its going to be better so they adjust it to how you want it setup.

I think with people saying it smokes/ it doesnt smoke much is that you need to make sure that your in suitable gear. No point booting it with low revs in a tall gear as it really will be a smokescreen, as i can testify. I think you need to adjust your driving style to suit the engine performance.

It does seem to depend on what fuel your running as well. I dont think your'll really know until you have 1 of each and try them out!

Exactly! The best tune will be out on the road because then you're not mapping it under artificial conditions. The only concern is that you have to do it on a private road

But the car i know in question that was done by superchips can be driven anyway and still produce very little smoke, Its all in the mapping.
