Swirl Marks!

Evening all,

I have notied that my black magic vrs is covered in swirl marks. I am a bit annoyed as the paint has no chips or scratches and it has never been through a car wash in its life. I always jet wash it to get the dirt off then wash it with a meguires hand glove thingy.

I was wondering what method i could use to get rid of these marks and keep them away. As i had the car supaguarded when i bought it i am not sure if this has any effect on what i can or can't put on the paintwork.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stick something on the paint that will mess up the supaguard protection.

Thanks

Re: Swirl Marks!

To be honest, the superguard will probably be long gone. But anyway...

A cheap way of disguising the swirl marks would be to wash and clay the car, then go over the body with a couple of layers of Autoglym Super Resin Polish (which fills in the swirls), then finish off with a good coat of Collinite 476s wax (which is the most durable wax you can easilly buy).

The expensive way would be to buy a Porter Cable machine polisher with loads of products and pads, to get rid of the swirls.

The third way would be to get someone with the above kit to do it for you.

The website vehicledetailing.co.uk has some decent info... As has the Detailing World forum!

Re: Swirl Marks!

Thanks for the info, that polishedbliss site looks excellent. I will give it a proper read when i get home from work.

Hopefully i will be able to buy all the stuff i need and try and sort it out this weekend. I will take some before and after pics and hope i manage to do it all correctly. At least i now know there are plenty of ways to get rid of the swirls. They look awful when you have just washed the car and sun catches it from the right angle.

Thanks again.
