| Re: Tyre pressure for vrs wheels on a 1400 fabia comfort 205 45 16 I think that's standard, and while the 1.4 petrol engine is lighter than the 1.9 diesel, I don't think it's enough to make all that much of a difference. Although it depends on the tyres as well: my old Toyos were at something like 38/35 to stop them going bald on the shoulders... ![]()

| Re: Tyre pressure for vrs wheels on a 1400 fabia comfort 205 45 16 Tyre pressures are relative to the weight of the car. As the weight hasn't changed, nor does your tyre pressure need to. It doesn't matter whether you change from 14" to 18", 175/60/14 to 235/35/18, Goodyear to Toyo to Pirelli or whatever. It's also the reason your manual states pressures for a normal load (1-2 persons, minimal luggage; and heavy load 4+ persons, full luggage).

It wasn't simply down to the compound, as the wear was much worse on the shoulders than down the middle. When stationary, I agree that the same pressure will cause the same amount of deformation regardless of tyre design, however once you start throwing cornering into the equation, the pressure can start making a difference in terms of performance, as the amount of flex in the sidewalls comes into play, and tyres pumped harder will flex less. This is, AIUI, one of the reasons you're advised to have your tyres a little harder than normal for trackdays...
