Tyre Question

If i got myself a set of 17" Octy VRs Wheels for my Fabia VRs - what tyres would I need to have fitted to them so they would fit and give a relativley correct reading on Speedo.

I know nothing about tyres, but need to know:

Tyre Width - i'm assuming this would need to be 205
Aspect Ratio - ?????

Any help appreciated

Re: Tyre Question

205/40 R17 is the generally favoured option for Octy vRS wheels.

If you'd gone for some 7.5J wide wheels, it might have been worth trying for 215/40 17s, but as the Octy spider alloys are 7.0J wide, 205/40s are good.

Re: Tyre Question

205/40s are the best bet, going on previous posts from people who've made the change. 215/40s will throw the speedo reading out, IIRC.

I've got Yokohama 'Parada's ( 215/40/17 ) on RS6 7.5"x17" rims. The main-man at 'Wheelbase' in Oldham assured me I was legally within the tolerance for speedo accuracy (just!!!).

Re: Tyre Question

If you all join the freedom scheme and support Briskoda by coughing up a miserly £12.00, or £1.00 a month, then you would have access to the tyre calculator tool. and wouldnt have to repeatedly ask the same questions.

I used said tool to decide which tyres should adorn my 18 x 8 rims, and the tool said 215/35. Lo and begold, thats what went on, and the speedo was 100% accurate with the gps.

Quality response!

And probably a very accurate statement

Well done to Shifty for pointing out the tyre calc tool, had forgotten about that.

Sorry to invade, but I would like to join Freedom, but how would I make the payment other than credit card? I'm not very willing on using it on the net so is there another way of doing it?
