Used car warranty - as useful as a chocolate tea pot?!

Exactly what does a Skoda used car warranty cover? Well not a lot it seems. Just been to my local dealer to get the car booked in for some warranty work. Got a knocking sound which I suspect is the arb - not covered. Mt door seals are leaking, badly - not covered. Turns out the cost of resealing the doors is about £280!! £70 ph, 1hr per door. To be fair the dealer is gonna ask Skoda for some good grace on the seals as my car is only just over 3 years old. Fingers crossed for some good news on monday!

Both known issues (by Skoda) so can't see why they wouldn't sort them out under warranty..

You can get the arb links done under warranty.

You should get a discount on it as its just over 3 years old.
But tbh usually if you're in that situation you'll have to fight hard or find someone to do that work for a cheaper price.

To find out what your warranty covers you should read the small print.

Re: Used car warranty - as useful as a chocolate tea pot?!

I had my doors re-sealed about a month ago under my used car warranty at a skoda dealer, unfortunately 1 door is still leaking so it is now booked in with another dealer that is closer to me, but the original dealer is picking up the bill.......

The original dealer is a 160 mile round trip, but after some negotiation they agreed to pick up the bill from a dealership much closer to me. It's booked in for Wednesday.

interesting, so there was no mention that this wasn't covered by the dealer you bought the car from? Maybe thats my problem, like you, the dealer that i bought the car from is a fair trek away. If i get no good news from my local one I may try them.

No they have not at anytime said that it is not covered. Of course though, they may well be doing it purely as 'good will' and maybe it isn't covered by warranty at all..........

Anyway, as it goes, my car went in for the door to be re-sealed yesterday, the garage called today and said they water tested it this morning and it is still leaking! So they are going to attempt yet another re-seal and will test it again tomorrow. This will be the 3rd attempt at sealing the leak, if it doesn't work this time what else can/should they do ???

Re: Used car warranty - as useful as a chocolate tea pot?!

Good news! Instead of taking my car to the local Skoda dealership,(quoting £280 to fix the seals), I went back to the place where I bought it. The reason I hadn't done this before is that it is a 2hr round trip, but as it turns out a very worth while journey.
Can I just say a big thumbs up to Winchester Skoda who have done the whole job for me for free! And a big thumbs down to Westover Skoda for trying to rip me off!
