vRS delivery times

Hi guys,

My dealer has told me build date will be week 32 and said that is a couple of weeks away, how long does it take to bring to the uk after and will it be likely I will take delivery by the 2nd week of September?

I tried to work the week no's out myself but can't, can anyone confirm what week week 32 is.

Thanks,

My diary says that week 32 starts on 2 August 2004 - which is what your dealer said. Skoda model years start on 1 May each year, ie MY 2005 production started on 1 May 2004.

Is it possible to find the build date from the chassis number or anything else on the car?

My Superb was built in week 27 (28th June - 4th July), and I'm told that it should arrive at the dealer sometime during week 34 (16th - 22nd August).

So, by my calculations your car should arrive at the dealer during week 39 (20th - 26th September).

As far as my dealer is concerned, 7 weeks is the average time it takes from build to delivery. Sometimes, cars do come through in 5-6 weeks, but 7 weeks is the safe bet.

My Fabia vRS was built in week 25 14th to 20th June and I got the car on the 30th June, so 7 weeks seems a bit excessive.

Yes. Your dealer can look up your car's VIN and engine numbers on ETKA - the Skoda online parts catalogue - and tell you what month and year both were built. Engine production leads car production by one month.

6-7 weeks is what I was told by the dealer, and they claim that this is normal. Maybe it's the time of the year, as I assume quite a lot of cars will need transporting to the UK for 1st September delivery. Perhaps, this introduces an additional delay?

I'm assuming that all of the cars are manufactured in the Czech Republic, so maybe the earlier delivery of the Fabia is down to the fact that is is by far the most popular model, as the 2003 sales figures show:

2003 production of individual model:
Fabia: 260,988 cars
Octavia: 163,563 cars
Superb: 23,135 cars

Oh well, I can't take delivery of my Superb until the 1st of September, no matter how quickly it arrives.....

Thanks for the info, there is hope yet then that I may take delivery before the 2nd week of September. I've got 2 weeks off work and it will be good to run the car in instead of doing it weekends only
