| VRS EDL, ASR vs ESP? Hello All, Today I have put a deposit down on a new black Fabia VRS. Gave up looking for a Golf GT 130 TDi as this one has the same engine and seems to drive just as good, plus its been untouched by another owner .Managed to get the whole deal, Cruise control, ESP, mudflaps and Black Metallic paint for the RRP £12380 which I thought was good going! (£800 worth extras) Onto my question: Can someone tell me what the difference is between the above three features. I've just ordered a new VRS today and have added ESP as an option but understand it comes with the other two EDL/ASR as standard. I have no idea what the other two do and how they differ. I hope I've ordered a worthwhile option.

| Re: VRS EDL, ASR vs ESP? Wouldn't it have been a good idea to ask the salesman what it does before spending £400?? ASR/EDL are there to stop you spinning the front wheel while EPS is there to aid you in keeping the car going where you want it to, basically it compares where you want the car to go to where it is actually going and can 'aid' you by braking individual wheels and cutting the throttle. |

lol, he told me the ASR and ESP were the same thing when we went for the test drive. Was only when I got home and looked at the spec list again I realised it had both! Is it true it can reduce your insurance if mentioned that you have ESP installed?

I have heard of some insurers offering it as it is quite a good safety feature, worth asking the question when phoning about

| Re: VRS EDL, ASR vs ESP? as above ESP keeps you going where your supposed to be going, it knows all sorts of thing. steering wheel direction, lateral G, longitudinal G, individual wheel speeds, power going to each wheel, braking force going to each wheel, altitude etc etc it is totallt different to ASR but they are linked if you know what i mean, basically ESP uses ASR at times ![]()

| Re: VRS EDL, ASR vs ESP? Also as ESP is a more refined system it isn't as annoying as ASR - ASR on it's own seems to kick in too early or too late, depending on how you look at it, whereas ESP appears to try other tricks to keep you going first. With the Limited Slip Diff (LSD) I've got now the ASR can still kick in when I boot it (too) hard with my remap though ![]()
