vRS vs GTR

Following my minor defeat at the hands of a 911 a while ago, I set my sights a little lower and had a play with a Skyline GTR V-Spec yesterday.

Lost again.

However... there was a short period where the little Furby was holding it's own between about 50ish and 80ish where he wasn't gaining. I was truly amazed!

It was uphill off a roundabout and I started ahead of him, he passed me when I got to about 100 like I was standing still!

LMAO - never underestimate a Fabia's mid range pull. I appreciate people think it's funny that Fabia vRS drivers hold on to that scrap of dignity proclaiming 50-70 times etc etc, but when a big skyline has to rev to 8000 revs dragging it's 1500 + kg fat *** with a measly 300 hp it isn't going leave a Fabia in the blink of an eye - it would take at least a couple

Quite a few hot hatches stand a good chance of keeping with more exotic machinery up to about 90 or so. Its after this they tend to pull ahead quite easily.

TBH I've noticed on here lately that every time a Fabia owner claims to have kept with anything, for any period of time, they are ridiculed. However, they are pretty quick cars, regardless of what some octy owners on here think of them!

(notice i said pretty quick, and not fast before any flames).

I like the way all the octy drivers spend most of their time in the fabia section.

Is it a special private v-room vroom now the fabia section

Have octy and a fabia so I can pop in to this section to see how fast the fab is getting

Saw a rather nice example of a GTR.They do look rather intimidating in the flesh

Last of the easy-to-tune ones too, easily see 400bhp out of one with a couple of simple mods My friend's brother got one as a pay-off from the company he worked for (importing Jap cars) that was allegedly running 600bhp. Fastest thing he'd ever driven, but a bit disappointing as the computers drive it for you. He much preferred his '93 Scooby WRX and his 300 ZX

it must of been rocket ronnies skyline to pull away from a fabia,as a standard gtr would of been left for dead by the awesome power of the fabia vrs

lol

And I dont even have one!

Incidentally, I remember reading some time ago back through the archives, and even when the Furby vRS was announced, it was ridiculed immediately - a thread called "Fabia vRS, having a laugh?" or something like that

It's even more amusing when you get a warning for it, like me

Suppose I'll just have to drive past them then..

It's a very good car.....period. If I had had £20k to spend on a car, i'd still buy a Fabia Vrs and spend the change on a few mods.
Remapped, it's a very fast, very good car, and fair play to those who have stories to tell about mid range pull and giving much more powerful, more expensive cars a run for their money.

Point to point on a mix of roads, it takes some beating.

It's just a shame that a few members think they are funny by ridiculing them, their owners, and the proud tales they have to tell.

I thought this was supposed to be a skoda owners community. Does everyone not share a common interest? It looks more like "them and us" every time I read a thread.

Not much community spirit.

Some very good points there which I do agree with, but we are an open forum with differing opinions. Fortunately we do have a good mix keeping it real and with the odd bit of fantasy which I find hilarious, sorry.

However, the sites community spirit (which you have chosen to ridicule) was not reflected in your post and has been ammended accordingly. I would suggest you have another read of the site rules on personal abuse.
